jekyll (May 8, 2010)
I don't know what happened to the b/g? It didn't look like that when I posted it. Anyway, we can fix it later. A rough sketch to start with.

Still don't know what's going on with the B/G. We'll likely have to erase it and start over on a new layer.

the textures are incredible. My husband is a potter, so I see such vessels all the time. Great start!
Suntan (May 11, 2010)
You two are quite amazing. :)
Teapot (edited May 12, 2010)
These look very ancient, but maybe not because I notice the finger marks that make them look wheel-thrown. Those iron reds and oranges are so delicious. Very beautiful and a subject close to my heart.

Have you guys noticed that the pot on the left at the back doesn't have a shadow yet? Probably you did... I just noticed it ^.^ Looks great, keep up the good work... what will be the next project? :D
elly (May 12, 2010)
Realism at it's best ;)
firecracker (May 13, 2010)

I guess I can set this to finished now. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. We actually had to use our imaginations on this one a little bit. The ref we used was smaller than the drawing and enlarging it didn't give us much detail to play with. It made for it interesting to see how we each interpreted the details.

oh,shit,I want to BUY THAT POTTERY!!!YAAAAH. (pottery aficienado, and obsessor)How come my pottery I just bought, here,is not in SHOWCASE???
montezmaria (May 24, 2010)
I find this just beautiful, the textures of the clay are amazing. The earthtone coloring...very beautiful.
Bubblicious (May 26, 2010)
Jekyll I have a question- are you from jekyll island in Georgia? I know it's a stupid question but I was just wondering because I was just there this weekend. It's very beautiful there. ^-^

Any way, wonderful work, the both of you did a great job.
Flubbles (May 26, 2010)
I'm beginning to fall out of love with oekaki, it was really noticable with the background how the colours get pixelated. I think I'm going to have to change my allegiance from time to time.
jekyll (May 26, 2010)
The answer, Bubblicious is no. The name "Jekyll" really has little significance to me. I do however live on an island called the Manitoulin and it's in Georgian Bay (Lake Huron). So I actually found your question quite interesting and thanks for your comment. You too, Dorothy and Maria.
Gonna "play the field" are ya, Flubbles? I likely wouldn't have given Shi-painter a second thought if it weren't for that first collab you and I did. I still like it but a better way to blend large areas, such as this background, would make it a lot better.
Flubbles (May 26, 2010)
Most of the time I like oekaki, but it's not the greatest for blending certain colours together. I like certain aspects of the other two, but I dont like how their set out.
toonlink101 (May 28, 2010)
ONFG!yur good fubbles!
firecracker (edited May 28, 2010)
Wow jekyll.....you really live on an awesome island! I never heard of Manitoulin Island before....so I had to "google" it.....wel, it says that Canada is home to the largest freshwater island in the WORLD, Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron, and it has a permanent population of 12,000 people......and you are one of those 12,000 people jekyll....wow, that is so interesting!!!!! It also says that Manitoulin Island has 108 lakes.....I bet it's beautiful there. I think you are very lucky to be living in such a cool place!!! Have you lived there all your life?
jekyll (Jun 3, 2010)
Thanks, FC. It really is a beautiful place. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I've known the Island all my life but I only began living here when I was 14. It was home to my parents and I'm actually related to a good deal of the 12,000 folks that live here.
firecracker (Jun 4, 2010)
I don't blame you for not wanting to live anywhere else.....it sounds fabulous there. I bet your island is surrounded by nice clean water.....not spoiled by any oil spills. I bet the fishing is great there,,,,,do you do any fishing at all?? Maybe you might do a draw of your island sometime.....it would be interesting to see.......:)
Luniki (Jun 23, 2010)
I'd never have the patience to draw sth so detailled!
Flubbles (Jul 1, 2010)
The good thing is when you do a collab you only have to do half of the work.
