Nice subject and perspective.
jekyll (Apr 30, 2010)
Thanks, Flubbles. I think I'll call it "tight and screwed"
Flubbles (Apr 30, 2010)
Pure filth.
jekyll (Apr 30, 2010)
I was thinking in an inebriated trouble kind of way, really
firecracker (Apr 30, 2010)
I have a screwdriver that looks just like this........nice draw!! :)
davincipoppalag (May 1, 2010)
Sweet job so far
Suntan (May 1, 2010)
hahah@jekyll. ^ looking awesome!
elly (May 1, 2010)
mmmmmm those screwdriver handles are yummmy!!! The perspective rocks too!!!
Pantera (May 1, 2010)
Great job on all of it, the metal looks great :)
Teapot (May 1, 2010)
I hate shopping but if I have to shop, a hardware store is pretty darned exciting. We have one here called Lee Valley that is my idea of Heaven. I asked them if it was okay for me to bring a picnic lunch and spend the day. So you KNOW this drawing appeals to me. I kinda hope you're not going to put in shadows...leave them sorta levitating and surreal. Yummy stuff, Jekyll.
jekyll (edited May 1, 2010)
Thank you, FC, dave, Suntan, Elly and Pantara. And Teapot;Lee Valley! That place is incredible.I've never been to a retail outlet, but I've drooled over their catalogues. An inspiring place for sure! They stopped sending me catalogues but I just checked the website and now I have another damn diversion on the computer. Doing shadows is one of my favourite parts of a draw but you've given me an idea to change things up a bit. We'll see......

I've seen that catalog, amazing things...and so is this becoming! :)
jekyll (May 1, 2010)
Thank you Suntan. Ive been hurrying to get this done so I can check their site out again ;)
firecracker (May 2, 2010)
Even though I'm not a guy......I like tools......I have a collection of handy little tools that I keep nearby in case of emergencies. I've always liked tools.....I just think they're so cool....."lol"!! I need to buy a new hammer.....the head keeps falling off of the one that I have. This draw is really awesome Jekyll......is there anything that you can't draw??
montezmaria (May 2, 2010)
Mmmm, love the red plastic on the handles. It really shows that it is hardened, yet clear. Plus the coloring itself against the silver really pops in the drawing. Love the subject of the drawing..it is different and interesting. Who'd screwdrivers would do that, but it does.
jekyll (May 2, 2010)
Thanks, FC. These aren't what I would consider real tools. They're tiny. Toolbox 'bling bling". Anything I can't draw? I try not to draw fire for remarks I make, but other than that I suppose it's a matter of putting one's mind to it ;) Montezmaria, thank you. The colour of the handles is what attracted me. I did find the plastic to be some what of a challenge though because it's not crystal clear and the surface isn't as smooth as glass would be. It made for some interesting turns in my perception of the subject.
firecracker (May 2, 2010)
I have a lot of these little tiny "bling bling" tools.....I also have some cool big tools too. You say that you try not to draw fire because of remarks you make......I don't understand what you mean......but I bet you could really draw a fantastic "fire" pic......I'd love to see you do one......a really big fire, with lots of flames shooting up in the air......I hope you'll think about doing one......I know it would be awesome.....:)
Teapot (May 2, 2010)
I'm not even going to try. I'll leave it to you, Jekyll, to explain what 'draw fire' means.

I was hoping you were going to use that title. I've always liked the Brit term for wrench. Flubbles would say 'a spanner in the works' or some such. You should sell it to Lee Valley for the cover of their next catalog. I totally love the shadows. How do you get Shi Painter to work for you? It doesn't work for me anymore at all. The canvas just goes blank after I change brushes or hit 'undo'. I suspect Java upgrades have become incompatible with the older drawing applets.
firecracker (May 3, 2010)
Well.....I wish somebody would explain what "draw fire" means.....I thought it meant that he didn't like to draw "fire" pics....."lol". I'm just not familiar with all this newfangled jangled terms and stuff......you people confuse me sometimes.....:(
jekyll (May 3, 2010)
Far be it for me to use "newfangled jangled terms", Firecracker. I meant that I try not to say things that would cause people to criticize me for what I said. For example, if I were to say something ridiculous like, "men are better artists than women", my statement would certainly draw fire (criticism) from most of the females on the site....... Teapot, I find Shi Painter can be quirky at times. I've experienced the blank screen before. I think I just went out of floating mode and back again and the the drawing reappeared. I find too, that the paint tool doesn't seem to leave a mark. Zooming in and out again seems to fix this. So far anyway....
Suntan (May 3, 2010)
Super job on this, jekyll. Wonderful detail all around. ....com'on, draw fire. ;p
jekyll (May 3, 2010)
Thank you, Suntan, but now I'm not sure I know what you mean?
Suntan (May 3, 2010)
haha, didn't mean anything, just adding more confusion.
jekyll (May 3, 2010)
Well I just might start thinkin' about drawing fire then.....
firecracker (May 4, 2010)
"lol"......you guys crack me up.....thanks jekyll, for explaining what "draw fire" means,,,,,,I understand clearly what that means now.....I guess I have "drawn fire" several times already.....it seems like so many of the comments that I have made seem to be misinterpreted by some people.....and I guess I draw fire from these people because of what I say. I don't think I ever said anything to offend anybody......I kid around a lot, but I don't intentionally set out to offend anyone.....I just like to have fun, and some people just like to "make a mountain out of a molehill"....so to speak......"lol"! Jekyll.....if you're gonna start thinkin' about drawin' fire.....then I say' "Go ahead!! Draw fire!!! LOL!! :)
dorothyblueeyes (May 4, 2010)
extremely attactive tools, and the best ones I've seen on here yet;probably you should get yours from hardware more often.
jekyll (May 4, 2010)
Thank you kindly, Dorothy. Firecracker, I know you mean no harm and figured you would see the humour in my statement
firecracker (May 4, 2010)
Yes, I did see the humour in your statement Jekyll......thanks for explaining it to me......it takes me a little while to figure things out.....but I finally figured it out....."lol"!! :)
Miss_DJ (May 7, 2010)
I just adore this.
elly (May 7, 2010)
I love how the wrench is balancing on the handle. This turned out fantastic!
jekyll (May 8, 2010)
Thank you, Miss DJ, glad you like it. The floating effect is due to Teapot's suggestion. I would have grounded the whole thing, but after playing around with the idea, I rather like it like this. Thanks, elly.
Teapot (May 8, 2010)
:) p. s. I love how it turned out, too.
Wraith (May 20, 2010)
I used to look at tools as a kid, and think they were amazing to look at. Now I see this and Damn! Jekyll u are inspiring me alot! Thanks for your amazing talent!
jekyll (May 20, 2010)
Thank you, Wraith. I am still amazed by tools.I think they make them look good so people will get excited about working with them. I think this is how art works too. We create to excite others into creating. I'm glad you found this inspiring, Wraith.
