I don't like her hair much..had probs with it...had probs with her face too...Not really finished with it but for now...she'll wait. used ref for body/pose, but made her boobs bigger, used another ref for the sunglasses and another for her hair, although that didn't help me much. I embellished on the shine...as you can see =) I enjoyed doing this one! Hope you enjoy looking at it =)

Excessive use of the dodge and burn syndrome.

major sexy..great drawing miss elly
elly (Oct 30, 2009)
Thanks, y'all =) Yes, you know me, the shinnier the better!! The ref was a woman who was actually painted gold and of course, that caught my eye.

Hmmm...syndrome or addiction??!!!! I'd like to think 'addiction' because there are 12 step programs for addictions, but syndrome? I'm not sure there's any help for that...on the other hand, I may not want any help! I don't think I'd want to draw without my dodge and burn tools!!! =O...LOL..

Thanks for the comments =)

This is really good.
I want to rub her skin. It looks like it would feel silky smooth.
enjoydotcom (Oct 30, 2009)
The breasts and the belly is the best part, so cool!
Bubblicious (Oct 30, 2009)
So shiny!! Wouldn't expect anything else from you, Elly, it's so pretty!
Miss_DJ (edited Oct 30, 2009)
oh what the hell...if it works, it works....no rules in art, right? 'excessive' complaints about excessive use of dodge and burn tools. Who gives a rats ass. I'm so tired of the 'genius' artists telling us just how many tools are 'appropriate' and how often they should be used.
How about just enjoying her creativity?

oh...GORGEOUS Golden Lady, elly! You executed the creation PERFECTLY with the tools you used!! How ingenius!
Reminds me of an awesome song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTX2Db6naaU

Looking in your eyes
Kind of heaven eyes
Closing both my eyes
Waiting for surprise
To see the heaven in your eyes is not so far
Cause I'm not afraid to try and go it
To know the love and the beauty never known before
I'll leave it up to you to show it
..

A touch of rain and sunshine made the flower grow
Into a lovely smile that's blooming
And it's so clear to me that you're my dream come true
There is no way that I'll be losing
Suntan (Oct 30, 2009)
What trouble were you having with the WTF revision? Quite a difference in the shine between that one and the next. I enjoyed looking at your progression of work and the end result. Nice shiny gold star for you, elly!..keep it up! :D
jekyll (Oct 30, 2009)
I agree, Miss DJ. It's all the same in the end and they can be so damn fun to use! Elly, you used them perfectly for this piece!
Axil62 (Oct 30, 2009)
I used them for "Aqua pink". They have there place.
Flubbles (Oct 30, 2009)
I never said dont use dodge and burn...i just think there can be to much use of a good thing sometimes. It's like elly thought to herself halfway through "Lets go ape shit with the dodge and burn and get completely off my tits".
vlad.the.hamster (Oct 30, 2009)
I do think the dodge and burn is a bit excessive on the hair, but otherwise I think it looks great.
Flubbles (Oct 30, 2009)
I'm not going out of my way to be an ass either,i think ellys talented...i'm just giving my opinion which she can either take on board or not.
montezmaria (Oct 30, 2009)
Loves it! Your an awesome artist, Elly. I like the pose on this one.
Aakyra (Oct 30, 2009)
Gorgeous Elly!
Miss_DJ (Oct 30, 2009)
Well, true that, too, Flubbles. She can either take on board or not.
My back hurts....I worked 2 jobs today and I'm tired. I get crabby when I'm tired.

Elly is just a talented woman and I have a tendency for sticking up for other people, even when it was no serious harm meant..duh.

elly (Oct 30, 2009)
I always know in advance "if", and, "where" I'm gonna burn it and/or dodge it but I typically wait until the last part of the drawing to add my punch. Many times, I admitt, I punch a bit too hard...I think out of sheer excitement for what the tools do, and I end up going over board.

In this case, I have to agree with vlad. about it being excessive on the hair, BUT, I did intend on shinning up her figure with as much punch as I could in order to give her the shinniest golden luster I could get! I wanted a "POW! IN YOUR FACE, WHO TURNED UP THE SUN AND WHERE'S MY SUNGLASSES" shine for this one...=)

I know, Flubbs, that you weren't going out of your way to be an ass and I do appreciate your opinion. The fact that you even said you think I'm talented is inspiring enough. I've worked VERY hard for the last 3 yrs on my digital art because I wanted to produce works like some of the amazing & masterful artists I've seen here do. Honestly I never dreamed 3 yrs ago that I could produce a drawing such as this one or many others I've done here!

So I thank you ALL kindly for your opinions, compliments, encouragements and critiques! U people ROCK!
vlad.the.hamster (Oct 30, 2009)
I have to say I agree with elly. Just being here makes people strive to improve because you guys are all so awesome. ^_^
