I fell off of a roof one time,,,,,,it was wayyyy back in the 1970's, and I was on top of the roof of the apartment building that we lived in, and I actually fell off the roof......luckily there was an awning about halfway down, and I landed on that.....otherwise I would've landed on the sidewalk below, and probably would've broken every bone in my body...."lolzzz".....and guess what axil.....I did "not" poop my pants on the way down.....lolzzzzz!!!! :P
Like falling asleep in mid-laugh. Or you laugh so hard you MUST sleep directly afterwards.
ps..I don't know this for sure, but I think that when you're falling out of a window to certain death, you pretty much WILL sht yourself in plenty of time either before or directly upon impact with your destination.
This is my hypothesis on the development of lolzzz.
I think that it is understood that lol means laughing out loud.
I think that over time lol became (in the minds of those who added the z's on to it) more of a single symbol than three letters that represent laughing out loud.
So at some point someone decided it would be cute to add and 's' to the end as if to say "lots of lol's" or lots of laughs. Now, if you say "lol's" out loud, the 's' sounds like the letter z. Hence lolzzz.
"MissDj".....I have heard that when you're falling out of a window, to certain death.....you will most likely "shit" yourself on the way down......but seriously I did not do that......maybe it was because way back in the 70's, I was anorexic, and I probably didn't have anything inside of me to shit out....."lol"! I didn't fall out of a window though.....I was actually on top of the roof of our apartment building, and I fell off the roof.... it was a very scary moment.....I thought I was gonna die....thank goodness for the awning...haha!! :D
I had no idea you had such an experience, firecracker! It must have been VERY scary! Well, I suppose I'll just leave my prior comment alone and move on from there.
Axil: I think the whole "lol" or "lolzzz" thing is nonsensical and ridiculous and a stupid shortcut that takes the 'pressure' off of the author of the statement when what they could say if they were more clever is something such as:
That was absolutely the funniest statement I've ever heard! I'm just delighted with your witticism!
sigh...
But, no, we just say, "lolzzz".......there goes the English language down the toilet.
Here's another lazy expression I've noticed:
Those who say "I'm fittin ta do that."
This is actually short for "I'm fittin' to do that."
This is actually short for "I'm fixin to do that."
Which is short for "I'm gettin' ready to do that."
Which is short for "I'm getting ready to do that.
The massacre of the English language is appalling. I can just imagine by the time our kid's kids are grown. There won't even be words any longer, just symbols... ;o)
because I had been awake 7 days and 7 nights painting a picture to get a better grade in history in class (it was about the bombing of Hiroshima).. and I lost my mind.. that's why
that was "undefeatable", right? i've seen most of it, but never all in one sitting :l
i think most people remember that scene, though.....and i saw it in a feature about the worst scenes in movies ever, once. but i think that vid got deleted ): otherwise, i'd link it up.
