Are there any "blending" option in Photoshop like in Lascaux or Chibi? I'm pretty new to Photoshop, so I'm blind to most of the features...

vlad.the.hamster (May 24, 2009)
Nope. Pretty much the only thing Photoshop doesn't have.
There is a smudge tool, though. |
HiroDaZero (May 24, 2009)
Ah, that sucks. :(
I know OpenCanvas has a similar feature, so I figured, why not? |
marcello (May 25, 2009)
photoshop sucks for drawing. try sketchbook pro, painter, SAI, flash, or anything besides photoshop...
xiau (May 25, 2009)
I've been meaning to try SAI, but I have no idea where to get it :C
Sounds pretty rad, though. |
HiroDaZero (May 26, 2009)
Artrage is pretty neat too. And you can get SAI here.
enjoydotcom (May 26, 2009)
Hmm, SAI looks cool.
Bubblicious (May 26, 2009)
(Sai is a name of an Anime character from Naruto)
:3 |

enjoydotcom (May 26, 2009)
It is also a drawing program.
Dr.Moony (May 26, 2009)
If you own Photoshop, effing use it. I think it's great for drawing.
The only features missing in my opinion are blending brush and an always opened color-dialog. Otherwise top stuff for painting/drawing/sketching, especially if you know how to play with its non-drawing features. |
xiau (May 26, 2009)
Thanks so much for the SAI link, Hiro! It's taking a bit of getting used to, because aside from the programs on this site, Photoshop is the only one I've ever used. I'm really enjoying the super smooth lines though.
And yeah, I agree, Moony. Once you get the hang of its features, Photoshop is quite a powerful program. I'm still pretty much attached to it by the hip. |
Bubblicious (May 26, 2009)
Lol I know. I found it kinda cool though 'cuz Sai happens to be an artist, and a shinobi, so like, all of the stuff he draws comes to life and attacks people. I think that would be SO AWESOME if we could do that with the art program. EFFIN AWESOME.
:) Soooooooorry for my hyperness lol. I'm in a good mood. |
Kloxboy (May 26, 2009)
Holy shit, SAI is awesome! :D Thanks Hiro.
backmagicwoman (May 26, 2009)
Just downloaded SAI and t looks like a lot of fun...gonna try it out ....!Thanks for the link...:)
cyclops (May 26, 2009)
SAI is worth the download, thanks.
marcello (May 26, 2009)
Keep in mind SAI is not free software. It's roughly $55 (5250 JPY to be exact).
You can purchase a license here using paypal: http://www.systemax.jp/en/sai/ |

Kloxboy (May 27, 2009)
Marcello: I'd say it's worth it, at least judging from my initial experience, I'm excited to use it. It certainly beats paying hundreds of dollars for PS, if all you wanted to do is paint digitally. Then again, SAI is compatible with PS, you can have the best of both worlds.
If PS had a similar blending capability to SAI and had a more intuitive interface, I would use it all the time. In PS, you can use filters, blending and layers to create painterly effects but I'd rather use a tool that acts like paint as I use it, it gives me more control. |

enjoydotcom (May 27, 2009)
Corel Painter is cool too, but much more expensive than SAI, noticed that you have to pay for it too. Considering buying it, eventho I already have Photoshop CS4 and Corel Painter.
backmagicwoman (May 28, 2009)
I have both of those too...they actually came free with my tablet purchase...:)
marcello (May 28, 2009)
you sure you didn't get the gimped versions? painter classic and photoshop elements?
backmagicwoman (May 28, 2009)
No theyr'e the real deal..I played around with them a bit...but when programs have so many options..it tends to send me into a panic mode and then I have to leave it alone for a while...I'm weird like that....
xiau (May 28, 2009)
I remember using Photoshop Elements at a friend's house once. I felt so handicapped and it made me want to weep.
backmagicwoman (May 28, 2009)
Yeah..it kinda makes me feel like i am gonna hurl...

HiroDaZero (May 29, 2009)

marcello (May 29, 2009)

Klox, my little sister thinks your icon is a monster, lol. And she likes enjoy's butterfly, and she thinks the chick in BMW'S picture is pretty.....
You know, I've never actually heard of all these drawing programs, never payed much attention to them. Oh well! |
backmagicwoman (May 30, 2009)
LOL..how old is your sister?
Bubblicious (May 30, 2009)
She's like... fourish? I think she's turning five in August.
backmagicwoman (May 30, 2009)
Well tell her I said thank you very much for the nice comment...:)

SPfan-96 (Jun 3, 2009)
hey gimp is a pretty neat program :)
SamiJ1000 (Jun 17, 2009)
Ya, but gimp won't let me post my pictures on photobucket. So I got mad and deleted it!
SaiWataki (Jun 19, 2009)
To place yoour pictures on photobucket after using the GIMP program, you must make a copy outside of GIMP.
enjoydotcom (Jun 20, 2009)
Save as JPG or GIF, that might be the problem. Like Photoshop, GIMP has its own format.
SPfan-96 (Jun 20, 2009)
yeah that wath i used to do.
