Thats great! I think you should do a series of different animals in this style.I was thinking the other day that you should try drawing animals in your style, and here it is.
@ kloxboy....Sorry....but it sure looks like the head structure, more of a horse, than a cow. A cow's head structure is broader than a horse's head. A horse head is longer, and more angular than a cow's head. Your drawing is long and angular, and has the features of a horse. It is an awesome draw.....but it just reminds me of looking at a poor, distraught, distorted horse. I love horses....they are my favorite of all animals....and I hate the thought of people buying horsemeat to eat. It's bad enuff that people eat buffalo meat (even I have done that.) But horses should never be thought of as "meat" on somebody's plate. Anyways....I think your draw is really awesome....you are an awesome artist, and I really do like to see your distorted draws...they are fascinating! It just bothered me when I saw what I thought was a distorted horse head, ready for the "meat slaughterhouse". I'm glad you told me that your inspiration for this draw was a cow, not a horse. Next time I see this picture....I'll think of a cow, not a horse...."LOL"!!! :)
You have to remember different cultures eat different meats, its no different from us eating a cow to lets say a chinese person eating dog.The only thing that concerns me is the animals welfare before they get to the slaughter house, some animals are kept in terrible conditions.I dont mind if people eat dogs or horses, just as long as there organic.
@ Flubbles...Even if the meat is organic.......it shouldn't be horses or dogs that are eaten.....they are pets, and companion animals.....they weren't meant to be eaten. Cows and chickens, etc. were bred for that purpose....even that is kinda gross. Sometimes I wish I were a vegetarian. I do eat meat from cows and chicken and turkey........but horses and dogs were not meant to be eaten. Could you imagine Roy Rogers eating Trigger!!?? Or eating "Lassie, or Rin Tin Tin???!! The world would be in sad shape if there were no more companion animals. I realize that different cultures have a different view on things.....but maybe if they could be educated and taught differently....they might change their way of thinking. I really do wish that I could seriously become a vegetarian....my brother and his wife, and my nephew are all vegetarians....and they don't miss eating meat at all, and they are all very happy and healthy. Anyways.....people are gonna do what they want to do......no matter what.....so it's just a waste of time to even talk about it. I think Kloxboy is an amazing artist.....and his distorted draws really fascinate me...."LOL"! It was just that one draw that he did....it looked like a horse to me....and it kinda bothered me, that's all. I'm glad he explained that it was a cow....not a horse. :)
firecracker: The proportions are closer to a cows when looking at the evidence and let's not forget I'm the one who drew this and would know what inspired me. The angular areas and the eye are part of the abstraction, which are horse like, this is true. This animal is lacking skin, some muscle and fat, which would make a cows head a bit more narrow like a horse. Had I done this style with a horse, it would be noticeably longer faced, the neck would be more upright, the snout would be larger and rounded, the ears would be sticking up, not going back and to the side, making it clearly a horse. (hows that for a run-on sentence)
Either way, it's a culmination of likenesses and really wasn't intended to be a specific animal. But you're welcome to interpret it as a goat for all I care, it's an abstract piece.
Eating horse was just as common as eating cow 100 years a go, its only since tv and blackbeauty graced our screen people think its wrong. And in china they have bred dogs for food for hundreds and thousands of years, they think its stranger to keep a dog as a pet.
So, firecracker, do you think people shouldn't eat horses cause they're your 'favorite of all animals'? or stop eating dogs cause they're cuter? -I dont think a horse deserves to live more than a cow. It's easier for you to eat a chicken because you don't treat it as a pet. If you had a chicken as a pet, I believe you wouldn't want it in your soup.
I have eaten horsemeat quite a few times when I was younger. There is this dish common in the province where I live (Limburg) called zuurvlees (sourmeat). To be honest, it is more sweet-sour then sour. And it is yummy. These days it is made with beef rather then horse, because over here horsies are liked as well, so people want them more as pet. I don't think it is worse to eat horse then it is to cow or chicken. True, I too cringe at the thought of people eating cat or dog. But I feel the same way when I look at a cow, they are so pretty. Too bad they taste so good. And hey, in India cows are holy. If you really are an animal friend and not just a friend of pets, you don't eat meat at all.
The only reason (next to how it is treated during its life) I can think of why it should be debated to eat cat or dog is because they are meat eaters like us. Can't explain why I find that odd.
About the drawing, it made me think of horse as well, but the nose is piglike. Doesn't matter what animal it is, it is a great piece of art.
Ok, I agree with you all....this draw is definitely a work of art.......it does look like a horse to me, but I'm going to just interpret this draw as a work of art,,,,and not think about it being any particular kind of animal. I love all kinds of animals, and I hate to think of any animal being eaten.....but I guess that's the way life is......the only way to solve the problem would be for all people to become vegetarians, and that's not about to happen. Anyway....I still think the draw is awesome.
I guess the reason that I'm not a vegetarian is because I was raised eating meat. I have acquired a taste for meat,,,,and after being this way all of my life...it's hard to just stop eating meat, and learn a whole new way of eating. When you go shopping in a grocery store,,,,you don't see any live animals....you just see slabs of meat, or ground beef, or pieces of chicken. So you don't really think about it....you just buy the packaged meat or produce, and go home and cook it up and eat it. That's why it's so hard to become a vegetarian. But I hope that sonmeday I'll be able to do that. My brother did it.....he's a vegetarian.....and he doesn't miss eating meat at all. Soooo...if he can do it......so can I!! "LOL"!! :)
I have no opinion on vegetarianism..eat what you want...
Klox: one of two things happens to me when i see something new from you, be it abstract or realism, bloody gory or even stylish...
1. It inspires me to try and be better...or
2. It makes me feel like I can never be so good so I might as well just stop now while I'm ahead..
