Hi everyone! im relativly new hear, but am interested in buying a tablet. i cannot get used to drawing with my mouse and want to get back into art.
the problem is i do not know what to look for in a tablet. heck im not even sure what it means by resolution (dont see how that translates to anything). im necessarly asking for specific tablets, but things to look for in tablets, like what the spec mean, ect. as of right now i just know wacom is the expensive name brand, and have heard genius brand is not so great.
for anyone that chooses to help thank you for your time !

A large drawing surface is a definite plus. For me, anything smaller than 6" x 8" is too small. Wacoms are a bit expensive, but definitely the best brand. I would suggest reading reviews online and make sure that your computer can handle it.

Mine is also a Wacom, before I had a Trust, but it had quirks that became annoying.
Tho I have a 17" widescreen monitor, the small drawing surface of A6 works fine for me.

I'm trying to decide what I should do as far as tablets are concerned. I can either get a tablet to connect to my computer sometime in the near future, or I can wait indefinitely and get a tablet PC. I've heard a lot of good things about tablet PCs and a lot of complaints about tablets, but the whole "not having a job and about to run out of unemployment payments" thing makes it very unlikely that I will be able to get a tablet PC any time foreseeable. Not to mention the fact that since I just got this computer less than a year ago, I'm quite fond of it and not too keen on replacing it.

Why would you want a tablet PC. They are very expensive, so you need a nice pot of money. The ones I've seen that are even remotely affordable are very small and not as powerful as a normal PC/laptop at the lower end prices. I'd only consider it if I were to go into an arts career. Otherwise is a tablet a good option. My views might be tainted, but I've never heard bad things of pen tablets. As long as you stick to a well know good brand. (Wacom for instance).

I use mturk, and I'm up to almost $50 that I can spend on amazon, so I'm hoping to find a good one at around that price.

I used to have an aiptek, few years ago, and in the past year I didnt use any tablet. Now I want to buy wacom, but I dont know if I need Intuos or I could do fine with the bamboos. Intuos4 has 5080 lpi and the bamboo has 2540. Im not sure what I used to have, but I do remember it wasn't very accurate.
I'm not sure- how much does it matter? would I notice the difference? -Im not a professional. I draw only on 2draw (you can see my board).

shults: you probably won't notice the difference. none of the applets on 2draw take advantage of sub-pixel accuracy, so you're going to be limited by you screen resolution more than the tablet (considering most screens are less than 1200 pixels high, and most tablets are at least 4 inches tall... 2540 lines per inch will be plenty. ;-) )

I would advise very strongly to get the TB 3100

This is by far the best graphics tablet on the market. You just cant go wrong with it's precicion and crisp performance. Ive been through lots of tablewts in my career and this one is the best.
Hope you find that useful mate. Link below :D
