I hope everyone had a great holiday and happy new year. As some people have noticed already, I have added preliminary support for chibipaint on all boards. Chibipaint is an open-source drawing app created by Marc Schefer. It is currently an alpha product and has some known issues. Read the wiki page for more information on what it can and cannot do.

I am looking for someone to redraw the icons for Chibipaint (they are pretty atrocious), so if you're interested, drop a comment here.

Happy drawing!

Marcello

The icon is a screenshot of Chibi. Did you want one without the windows that hide the drawing space, or something different?
  icon
marcello (Jan 3, 2009)
jpjp: the icons refer to the icons on the tools in chibipaint itself (like pen, pencil, etc.)

I think klox should make it one of his competitions, id give it a go.And clox and you could decide on the winner between yourselves.

I think that is a great idea, flubs.
Is anyone else having problems when they submit their draws on Chibi?

Hey is there a way to enlarge the workspace so that we can have all the toolbars visible without covering the canvas?
  icon
marcello (Jan 3, 2009)
you can switch to floating mode via one of the menus.

Oh, I love that Idea, might give that a shot. Is it okay enough if it is drawn with an oekaki program, or does it has to be a desktopprogram?

Chibipaint is win. :D Thanks Marcello!

Oh yeah, also, this link wont work from the welcome page. You have to click the hypertext subject line to get into the forum and then click the fucking link I've provided.

Oh, that happened to me too. But weirdly could submit image anyway. Although it took a detour.

vapor (Jan 5, 2009)
nice, i like it.
and same thing happened to me, i got the error but it still submitted.
  icon
Axil62 (Jan 5, 2009)
Are you able to edit a submitted image? I'm not.
  icon
Roytje (Jan 5, 2009)
I saw the error, too.
I can edit and revise my submitted image, but it's gone now: http://2draw.net/view/103910/
When I submitted it, all my internet browser disappeared.

re: http error. unfortunately chibipaint doesn't display the actual error message, so it's hard for me to figure out what's going on. I may have to modify chibipaint and make a custom 2draw version to fix these issues. but it's not high priority to work on someone else's drawing program.
re: browser cashing: sounds like java is crashing... not sure what to say there... be wary? :)

vapor (Jan 5, 2009)
i was able to revise with no problem. there's just no 'image submitted' message.

marcello (Jan 5, 2009)
people having problems, what operating system and version of java are you using? also, are you using jtablet?
  icon
Roytje (Jan 5, 2009)
Windows XP
Java-versie (Version 6 Update 11)
And yes, I use jtablet. A lot.

QTgillie (Jan 5, 2009)

  icon
marcello (Jan 5, 2009)
Ok, I made a bunch of changes to chibipaint's code and uploaded a new version. Let me know how it works for you guys.

Pantera (Jan 5, 2009)
I have tried twice to send in 2 dif. drawings, lost both of them because could not send them in. Got error message.
Am using Windows Vista
Java-versie (Version 6 Update 11) (same as Roytje)
and I use the mouse to draw

marcello (Jan 6, 2009)
pantera: is this with the new chibipaint or the original? If you're using the new version, can you take a screenshot of what the error is?
  icon
Pantera (Jan 7, 2009)
Yes I have tried both versions and still can not send in the drawing. I have a screen shot of the error that came up, but I have no idea how to post it here, please memo me on how to do that, thanks you .

lori (Jan 8, 2009)
I can't send the drawing either, but then when I just accept that, and go back to the 2draw homepage, and click draw again, it says I have drawings that need to be submitted, and voila, there's my drawing
  icon
marcello (Jan 8, 2009)
you can email it to me at marcello@cellosoft.com
  icon
Pantera (Jan 9, 2009)
I can not email any files or photos to anyone :( today it let me send in 2 drawings that say test but I can not see what it says on them, I have 2 more just like it in my studio that I am not going to bother testing. The response a few days ago for chibipaint was "Error submitting image, connection reset by peer: socket write error
response:
For Lascaux today before I could send in test drawing, was saying " Error submitting image, invalid Lascaux sketch input stream, then it let me send in the 2 "invisible" ones.

I have no idea what is going on is it the site? is it my pc? please help.

you could also try using http://tinypic.com/ to upload the screenshot.
with then number of problems you're seeing, and others are not, it is possible your pc. those particular errors you mention sound like problems with your internet connection, though.

It is official, I hate Chibi (and other online digital drawing programs that make you loose work). I am even taking the sensible effort of submitting every hour, and it usually works. It doesn't close the applet window on it's own, but I can live with that. Did some important changes to a drawing I'm working on, it looked cool (have to believe me). But when it came to submitting, nothing happened. The applet screen went blank, and idiotic me forgot to screenshot it. :S

Sure, I can draw it again, but aaaarghhh...

For enjoydotcom user, I thought I lost my Kakuzu pic too, but it doesn't show up for a little while. It automatically saves as unfinnished/hidden, then you have to go under your other drawings to find it. Its odd, but it is new. I actually did good on that Kakuzu pic and decided to post for once on Intermediate board with my Deidara picture, and I used SHi panter or whatever. I wanted to try out all of the programs to see what Id like better. TO my suprise I actually should have submited my Kakuzu drawing to Intermediate. I used Chibipaint for that one actually O.o

enjoydotcom (Jan 17, 2009)
I know that.... my rant was about a real glitch. It was when trying to post version 5 it didn't go through. (Unfinished, not unfinnished, Finnish is a language in Finland). ;)

lovemeso (Apr 1, 2009)
i love chibi, i think it is the best tool but when i send a pic it exits out of the internet but thats all, all i have to do is open the internet again, its annoying but i can liv with it and i dont lose my work, oh and i think the other applets are to hard to draw with, they make my computer slow and its confusing to learn how to use them

dorothyblueeyes (Dec 9, 2009)
chibi is not working.

davincipoppalag (Dec 9, 2009)

Oh ghosts... yesterday I've removed about 10 of these kind of messages. I've notified Marcello, this is too much work for me.
Are they the ones you meant earlier with the 163.com website link?

---------------
Edit, yes they are. The retarded thing about it is that they do not put links or anything in it. Bunch of balls...
