so I can finally comfortably draw with my left hand again, as I grew up doing... I wanted to be able to draw, as on a tablet, but not have to look up at the screen while using the tablet, and this enables me to do so, I think, from what I read anyway ... here it is:

thoughts on it? and I couldn't find a price anywhere on it.. how much do you think it goes for?
edit: oh I found the price.. haha.. I highly doubt I can talk anyone into getting me that for Christmas

I clicked on each one to the left of the screen lori and they all seem pretty expensive.
CINTIQ 21UX - $1,999
CINTIQ 20WSX - $1,999
CINTIQ 12WX - $999

lol ok I just saw your edit and you already found the price :P

I wonder if this computer I'm using would need anything special that it doesn't already have, for one of these to work... that's the stuff I question.. Joyce, I know.. the expense sucks

You can draw without looking at the tablet by using a regular wacom tablet and not spending 2000 on a "draw on the screen" tablet computer.

amazon has the 12" for $912 free shipping and no tax (I think).

thanks marcello, I'll check that out... Dave: I had said I don't want to look at the monitor screen, not the other way around.. I know you don't look at the tablet when you use a regular one, but that's what I want to do! like pen and paper

Have you even tried regular tablets?
It's really not hard to draw with them.
Also when you're drawing directly on the screen, your hand is blocking your view. And you're bound to the given size of the screen.
In my opinion it's not yet worth it to buy such equipment.

no I've never tried a regular tablet, plus I have champagne tastes (and a beer pocket book)... I don't see what my hand would be blocking, it would be just like writing on paper, only no lead or ink smears while drawing. The size of the screen would make no difference to me, that's no different than using a tablet and I never draw big stuff anyway. I still say it's cool, I agree it may not be worth it, unless I can figure a way to make money off using it, but it's still a cool "toy" as my family calls it.

the setup would be around $200. It's no wacom, but it's still pretty good. I've only used the DS version, but it's pressure sensitive and actually works quite nicely. Plus it's portable.

It's for phones and Ipods? How does that compare to a 100 dollar tablet you use on your computer? They seem like totally different things...

Well, the point is that it's a way to draw directly onto a screen, and both platforms (iPhone and Nintendo DS) are going to be way cheaper than a Cintiq even if she doesn't own either.
