so i have a printer that can also scan pictures, but apparently i don't have the software to use it. i think to get the software, i have to buy it or buy a new scanner. is there any way to get this software without buying it?

Yeah, it's called stealing. Just post the name of the software, I bet someone has it or can point you in the right direction. If all else fails, I'm sure someone can "acquire" it for you. |

Doesn't the Gimp let you do something with scans? It is free and very advanced in tools. At least it is not like a house, but they took away the attic, front door, furniture and car.

You should look up your printer online and download its driver from the manufacturer. It'll be free, and it's not "stealing." I find most drawing programs (even photoshop) suck at the whole scanning thing, and prefer to scan with the scanner's own software.
