All I really remember of my particular religion is reading the entire bible when I was about 7.
Since, I have had my own son and now they have much more comprehensible bibles :)

The particular passage you are speaking about was set in the time of the Church at Corinith. This was a church just starting out. In this church, the women sat on one side of the church and the men sat on the other. When something was said that the women didn't understand they would call out to their husbands and ask them what it meant. That was when Paul wrote this in the bible, addressed to this church. That was how my preacher once explained it to me and it certainly makes sense. If you will study the Bible a little more, you will find that there are many women in the Bible that preached the gospel. I think one of them was Phoebe. I hope that helps you some.
