davincipoppalag (May 22, 2004)
Another nice one cmb..I like the point of view you used.
laurael (May 22, 2004)
I love how yours look so painterly and the colors are great! It doesn't ever look like you have to spend too long creating them, but maybe while you still are, you're logged out? Sometimes, that happens to me and I log back in and then I find the pic again on a submission page that shows up...(I know...I take a lot longer to do a pic)
cmb (May 22, 2004)
no - the length of time is right laurael- I tend to draw quickly- I suppose I dont like overworking things...

this is kinda of a dream...hi deb long time no see... :)
Aubrey (May 22, 2004)
Sounds more like a nightmare lol. Very nice though with the color and the background. It's neat how all your pictures tell a story just by looking at them.
staci (May 22, 2004)
this whole thing rocks my socks..but the way the bg is done is terrif, what a mind
Zack (edited May 22, 2004)
I love this, it's a very expressive work, even more so than usual with yours. The background and foreground truly work together. One minor detail: the slight halo around the background silhouette doesn't seem to work, although it may have been accidental.
Edit: For some reason, that halo's growing on me now. Strange.

Aubrey (May 22, 2004)
He has that sort of spaced out look to him.. like when you look at someone staring at nothing inparticular.. makes you wonder what they're thinking. This one's purdy sad Zep, really nicely drawn.. just sad :(

Actually, I think this is one of the most interesting things you've done... I truly like it. If you look at it a little while it appears to be different than when you first glance at it. It's really cool.
LovelyLori (May 21, 2004)
well I'm glad ya like it, thanks ;)
laurael (May 21, 2004)
Omg...she's right, this is cool...the white around the ball kind of...pulsates...okay, maybe I'm just, tired? Wait...the shadow on the ball just shifted a bit...oh gawd...I'm losin' it...lol...
davincipoppalag (May 22, 2004)

davincipoppalag (May 22, 2004)
At the very beginning of WWII they still wore the "tommy" style helmets . The GI Joe ones didnt come out until a bit later.
Aubrey (May 22, 2004)
This is really excellent Cindy. The perspective is great and everything that everyone else mentioned that makes it that way :) It's action standing still.. just great.

Hi Hel, I love the work you are doing, you are really improving with your drawings. War sucks, and this one is a big f.. waste of lives.
asg101 (Jul 1, 2004)
Calacores, your knowledge of great music heartens me! Do you know of Phil Ochs works? Looking forward to hearing you on the phone again.

As far as the question posed by the title of the art. War is only good for the power elite that profit from it. Those that fight and die are never the ones that gain. "Good for the economy" is a fallacy. The only sector of the economy that get a bump is the arms manufacturers, and other providers of military equipment. Much more good would be provided to the economy if the same amount of money was put into education, or rebuilding OUR country's infrastructure. And if the resources were put into renewable energy, we would no longer have to colonize the Middle East. If you want to see the real face of the current war, go watch Fahrenheit 911.
Cordelia_Pink (Aug 9, 2005)
I think this was based on a song: "WAR! Hoo! *music going* What is it good for? Absolutely NOTHING." I like that song.

Typical kid.. he's already lost at least one mitten. Great picture.. I love his face, especially his chubby cheeks flushed with the cold.
laurael (May 21, 2004)
This is nice...love the smile! Love the redness to his cheeks and that color green...('nice' green...)
debem (May 22, 2004)
Thanks for the nice feedback, folks...emma, lol...good eye, I didn't think about a mitten (duh, though I should have)!!
davincipoppalag (May 22, 2004)
