Reminds me of the wildfires when the news camera is all blurry and then focuses in on all the devistation. Good job, sad to think of the animals on that mountain though for shore.
firecracker (Jun 15, 2009)
It really does look like a wildfire......nice draw!! :)

I would love a place like that where you can open the door to a lovely scene like this
gloworm043 (May 28, 2009)
Thanks much everyone. I started out trying to draw a waterfall....but had trouble so went with this scene. It was fun to do.
firecracker (May 28, 2009)
Your waterfall scene was looking pretty good too.....but this "pic" is really beautiful.....it's such a peaceful, relaxing scene. Great draw!! :)

Aww, this is nice! So soft and relaxing! I like your use of texture and nice sunglow! Did you start out with a wave in mind before drawing this one?
gloworm043 (May 18, 2009)
No...I actually took this scene from a puzzle that I did on line. It was fun to do...:) Thanks elly for the your comment...you 2 "D" and firecracker...

Very pretty Gloria!
Miss_DJ (May 2, 2009)
I like this serene scene, too! I love the water!
(but a little unsure why the polar-looking mountains are there?)
firecracker (May 2, 2009)
Very very pretty.....I especially like the water.....nice draw!! :)
gloworm043 (edited May 2, 2009)
Lol...to tell you the truth DJ...I don't know why they're there either....ha ha. I took this from a puzzle and the mountains in the back ground were a light gray color. It does look kind of odd now that you mention it....snowy mountains across from a sandy beach...lol I'll try to make them look more like sandy dunes...lol

Taken from a photo of a baby orangutan. Of course, my rendition doesn't do her justice. But she was fun to do.

Aww..look at me ...I a puppy...
QTgillie (edited Apr 21, 2009)
I think it just takes practice. One thing I would do for sure though is to make the background first and then put the puppy on the next layer. Also, possibly just do a couple just for fun. Slab a bunch of color, thickly on the canvas and then just use the smudge and blend brushes and push the paint around to see what effects you can get. For example, you could make the trees and branches first then just blob on some different shades of greens here and there on the branches and then smudge them around to form leafy shapes. Make any sense???? I think this pup is pretty cute BTW.
I rarely use the airbrush, usually just the watercolor brush with lots of flow and little opacity. Vibrant colours. You might try watching a little of my hawk, I just keep adding colour until it is what I want, if I don't like it I just add more colour. The hawk took me much longer than it should have cause I couldnt get the feathers the way I wanted. It has two layers, just the background and the hawk on the second llayer. There might be some tutorials around for it. Don't hesitate to ask Q's, I love to TRY and help, not sure if it does any good tho, esp. here, you all are such seasoned artists.
