Awesome! I love the quality of your latest drawings - loose and fluid with very expressive lines.

Trying out a collaboration with Cloxboy. I don't know if I can keep up with his skill level, as he's one of my idols on this board. It's a great honor to be working with him.

Ah okay - sorry, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to fill it in with something or not. Also Marcello showed me what Zoraw was - I wasn't sure if he was supposed to have organic parts or not, but now I know what he's supposed to look like. :)

Jeff Soto! I love his robots. Does he have a website? Anyways, cool looking collab so far. I'll be waiting for the finish. :)

It's been a while since I've posted here. I've been practicing a lot in my sketchbook, drawing animals, foliage, buildings, and skies and also been doing at least half an hour of constructing figures every day in hopes of getting comfortable drawing and creating enough things to start doing complete fantasy art drawings/paintings.

Anyway, here's a quick made-up tree using a scribble technique I'm learning with pen and ink.

Nice little sketch, I am a lover of all fantasy since I grew up with it with comics and D& D as well. It is my very favorite genre. Space fiction is next. Nice to see you doing things here also. You have to start working with color though, your a little shy and tentative when it comes to color. Do more comd, your pieces break up the confluence of all the manga here.
comd (Apr 26, 2006)
Thanks - I'm trying to avoid color though. It's my drawing skills that need the most work. Doing color can come later, once I learn how to draw.
kristine (Apr 26, 2006)
once I learn how to draw.

...that made me laugh. :)
Sweetcell (Apr 26, 2006)

It is quite lovely and well done, I just feel the concept is a bit... overused. I would love to see your fine craftsmanship go into something more unique.

Nice color choice, I like it!

Just keep telling me i suck and It will make me mad then I will draw something really good out of spite.
Or you could name some good art schools.
I need to draw more women.
I use to draw them all the time but I would get in trouble at school all the time so i stopped.
So you could yell at me and tell me to draw women.

I would also like to start a comic, but I never have time:(

I also need to draw more backgrounds.

Or you could draw something really cool then tell me i'll never be able to draw better than you, that should help.
Deino (Apr 16, 2006)
Wait, they scold you for drawing women? You should have told them that it is art!
I wish I could go to an art school...
comd (edited Apr 16, 2006)
I like it too. It really pops out in the thumbnail, and it's an interesting picture up close. There's like a counterpose going between the lips and eyes: a natural curve like a human spine (only in the face).

I don't think it's good to draw out of spite. It kills the enjoyment - you'll be determined to achieve some specific kind of end result, and if you don't reach your goal, you might fail to realize what you already have going, and more importantly, you probably won't enjoy the journey as much. I've been prone to that sort of 'end result' mentality from time to time, and I'm trying to quit that and enjoy what I'm currently doing more. I think it's a whole lot less stressful to work that way, and the results will come to you with time. Just keep it fun, and you won't notice the amount of work you can just enjoy the ride.

I think the most valuable lesson I've learned lately is to just not care so much for something that I'm not willing to change it. It's a lot easier to experiment with different ideas, poses, feature placement, etc. in digital, and one should exploit that ability when practical.

“O lady, you in whom my hope gains strength, you who, for my salvation, have allowed your footsteps to be left in Hell, in all the things that I have seen, I recognize the grace and benefit that I, depending upon your power and goodness, have received. You drew me out from slavery to freedom by all those paths, by all those means that were within your power. Do, in me, preserve your generosity, so that my soul, which you have healed, when it is set loose from my body, be a soul that you will welcome.”

-Dante, thanking Beatrice for saving him.
Canto XXXI, Paradiso

EDIT: I'm planning to make this one in watercolors. :) Je, the result was better than I expected.

REally original (unless of couse it's not *L*) and well done. Can only read a lil of that ..the love the life the death..that pretty well sums things up. Excellent work.
Deino (Apr 17, 2006)
Thanks for the comments :)

Gerbear, the three first lines are form a poem of Miguel Hernandez :) I just add the fifth line, because I think it describes Dante very well.
gerbear (Apr 19, 2006)
Deino, please translate the last line and the first one! I only understood the middle three. My Spanish is spotty at best. :)
Deino (Apr 20, 2006)
Of course Gerber:

With three wounds he came;
The one of love
The one of life
The one of death.
Dante was the one who came.
