I've been staring at this picture for so long I can't find my mistakes as well anymore. I suspect the eyes are... mismatched though.

"I'm pleased with the painting process, as I have learnt a little from it. (Not enough though.) I'm not that pleased with the anatomy, which reminds me that I ought to sketch out my proportions first. >__> I took 3 hours on this... which isn't all that long compared to my previous works, but it's only a headshot. T__T reference that was not very used: I don't wanna cry

Coincidentally, that was an ironic choice of picture... as I was searching for a picture titled "I wanna cry". >__>" (copied and pasted from my Gaia art dump)

I'll label this as finished, since I used up all the space.

I really like how you colored her lips. And I don't think her eyes are mismatched at all

musta been an interesting night here
lori (Jun 7, 2007)
well yeah, for a bit it was, I was up too long
and I understand that MelissaMissy is just 11, maybe 12 by now, so I shouldn't go on about her
but I was referring to the colors comment she made on another one of my pics... I think that one day softer more subdued
colors will comfort her too, when she no longer has the cushy little life of a child. For now she just makes me giggle 'cause she's the same
age as my son.
davincipoppalag (Jun 7, 2007)
I think your colors are beautiful..much better than garish bright ones ...
Sweetcell (Jun 7, 2007)
Well that, plus she's been going from picture to picture making rather rude and obnoxious comments. But it's all past now. :)

Oooo, I did something like this once on youdraw. Of course it's much better when it's in color.
The sky, the moon, the trees and branches and twigs. Do do like this one muchly.
PS (Jun 6, 2007)
Looks nice, I like how you did the sky, it works.
Wraith (edited Jun 6, 2007)
Really nice! Reminds me of a scary night alone. In the wilderness. Hoping that whatever is lurking, does not see me.
Childlike_Vampire (Jun 7, 2007)
This was from a camera phone shot I did of the moon standing in front of my house pointing it straight (as I could manage) upwards. I just made a sketch of it and had fun with the rest.

Thanks very much! :D

We've been learnign proportions at school so I htought I'd practice. It's SO much easier using pencil and paper!
I hate the nose and the hair is a mess, I was hoping it'd look braided. I made her face a bit grey becuase she looked so pale. I like my background though.
Please help me! Tell me what I can do to make it better...but dont be too harsh (I havent drawn here for months) and dont leave out the good things! But DO tell me how to make it better, please, or just comment on it.
Thanks! Melissa!

This looks pretty good! Maybe with some shadow, it would have looked way better. Great draw!
Fiesta (edited Jun 13, 2007)
Try not use just use lines for the hair.. and try layers.. if you already haven't.. otherwise nice picture. :)

What a great effect..like glittery chalk...how cool this is...
Sweetcell (Jun 6, 2007)
"Do you think I'm sexy? Do you think I'm sexy baby, ya."

This looks like sand art. For those who don't know artists take different types of sand and delicately place them in a glass bottle or container slowly creating a picture. I've seen a few and I can say it looks hard to do.
Wraith (Jun 14, 2007)
Lori, you produce dream like drawings... How do you do it?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 14, 2007)
This does somewhat resemble sandart, Barb... good call. I have some in desert scenes, really old ones... antiques that I picked up while travelling through New Mexico and Arizona. The ones I own are on tiny canvases. I like the way the sand sparkles when the sun hits them... I have them hanging in the east window where the sun rises. This would make a great sand art painting... I'd add it to my eastern bay window... but... alas... it's only here, in cyberland. :(
