I'd like to know why so many drawing sites favor landscape over portrait orientation for the canvas. If I want to draw a standing figure it has to be so tiny. I never get to put in the sexy footwear. Maybe I'll draw a figure from the shoulders down so I can do the feet.

Alter.Native (Oct 20, 2011)
Nice dynamics and expression!
(and somehow the dress feels velvety..)
Miss_DJ (Nov 10, 2011)

Thank you, ma'am. I'm real pleased with how this turned out. Pretty rare occurrence for me.

She appears very thoughtful. Nice work.
Teapot (Oct 20, 2011)
ha! Suntan, I flipped it horizontally 'cause that helps me check to see if the proportions and angles look right on a face that is tilted. I have a LOT of trouble with that. Forgot to flip it back. silly me.
shults (Oct 20, 2011)
I usually see flaws after I submit, but your way sounds very interesting..
Teapot (Oct 20, 2011)
Yeah, Shults, try it some time. It's amazing how different your drawing will look to you as a mirror image. Makes any inaccuracies really stand out.

nice light, nice movement...very different for you...and it looks good on ya. ;p
Teapot (Jun 2, 2011)
Thanks, Suntan and Miss DJ. It was inspired by a photo of silhouettes I saw at DA. Was going to ref it but now I can't find it. Doesn't really look anything like the photo. I just liked the effect of the lighting.

One of those movies I could never watch again It would kill me to see how horribly dated it is in the way that only 1960's movies can be Horribly Dated.

very classy looking, good job
oneironaut (Oct 24, 2010)
Robert is spot on. Paul looks nothing like himself but he didn't in the reference either.

The static you added in Version 11 was a nice touch.
Miss_DJ (Oct 24, 2010)
Sweet draw...loved the movie!

nice

Asian erotica; they have tons of it, ya know, from way back in history, both Japanese and (Indian,India)and Chinese,I believe. Every single nation probably has "erotic art,"or,they should have. Very nice
Teapot (Apr 1, 2011)
Yes, DBE, I took a course in the History of Erotic Art at the University of Washington many years ago. It was fascinating. The Japanese art always made the class laugh because the male genitalia was greatly exaggerated. They were always tangled up in their kimonos, though, never nude. This is more an outcome of my having started doing life drawing again.
Suntan (Apr 1, 2011)
oh, wonderful. I love erotic art...which I see this is not intended to be, but just the same...it seems within that vein. More, please.

Does posting two pictures in a row on the same board constitute flooding?

Coming back for NO. 4?
Teapot (Feb 12, 2011)
Puppy chewed through the cable on my Wacom so I no longer have a drawing tablet. I did, however, sign up with a life drawing group at a local art gallery. Starts next Tuesday, so, wish me luck. It's been a long time since I drew anything on...what's that stuff called again? Oh, yeah, paper!
TisforTwee (Feb 27, 2011)
This is excellent, I love the intense expression <3 and the texture on the skin, and the wave of the hair. I always have trouble with detail on hair. Very nice!

Some of you may know a Dutch artist who used the name "Inevergiveup". She died on October 21st. I will miss her. She was a lovely person. There is a quote on her funeral announcement:

One dies twice, I realize
To cease to please and be lovable
Is an unbearable death.
To cease to be alive is easy.

Voltaire

Tess loved violin concertos, this one especially.

..another look. :(
enjoydotcom (Jan 3, 2011)
What? Why, how...
Teapot (Jan 3, 2011)
Enjoydotcom, you can read about Tess' illness here, on the first picture posted . She posted a picture and a poem and explained about having Meniere's Disease. She decided to end her life at the age of 52 after suffering unimaginably for more than 10 years with it. You can also see a collection of some of her work in the Upload Studio at that site.
enjoydotcom (Jan 3, 2011)
That is just so sad... didn't know about her, but her gallery hosts some nice stuff. She left earth too soon, but I can understand her decision.

Yeah, we've been watching The Trip. Who do you think does a better Michael Caine? Coogan definitely does a better Sean Connery. Personally, I think it's weird that digital artists have gotten used to painting and drawing on such small canvases. I liked using larger ones and viewing larger ones even before my eyesight went south. If you saw images as small as most of the ones done on computers in an art gallery they'd almost be considered miniatures .
Flubbles (Nov 30, 2010)
I think brydon does an exaggerated version of michael caine which is easier to recognise, but coogan probably has it closer to the mark.
gel_o (Dec 4, 2010)
All of your portraits are amazing.

V6 must be mine..ha!..I'm glad you took it back to its beauty. Gorgeous work.
