The lines are very smooth, and the color choices and kimono patterns are lovely!However, I think it would look nicer if you added some more shading, and darkened some of the shadows you've already set down. A background also wouldn't hurt.

I don't think you can. The 'frozen' effect, near the head, is really nice, as well as the bg. But I think you should make the head larger (to the top) cause it kinda looks like it was chopped off.
