I look at this I see Giger. His pieces on structure, not his anatomy pieces. Can't help that, Am a Giger fan.
Always, always a fan of your work Jem.

This has to be my favorite thing of yours so far.... aside from the beautiful nude that was placed in the Showcase recently. When doing this type of art you always seem to manage to keep what I note as the Navajo "weaving tradition" of leading us in, and allowing us a way out. It may not be intentional, maybe it's subconscious, but I always notice that and then I'm comfortable looking at it. This is an ingenious work of abstract art, and I see innumerous things in it that I could comment on, but since I talk too much, I'll just leave it at that :).

innumerous

I love that word. You get extra internet cookies for working that word into your comment. :)

This is just all kinds of beautiful, from her glistening skin, to the swirlies (we all love swirlies) to her mole/3rd eye? on her forehead. The lighting, her contemplative sad expression, all lovely. The right side of her lips look smaller and swoop down more than the left side, but it's a quibble. Yes indeed do make more.

It's been raining so bad here it barely has time to warm up, when it does the humidity goes through the roof causing intense heat waves, which causes more rain, which have lead to tornado's. Hope you don't go through that mess Roy.
clover_pocky (Jul 16, 2007)
Lighting! Ohmygoodnesslighting! Lightinglighting!!

*twirl*

So pretty, how do you get your skin tone to be so even?
Roytje (Jul 16, 2007)
No, we don't have tornado's. We only have alot of rain and lightnings :)
Thanks for the comments! :)

Miss_DJ (Jul 15, 2007)
somehow I just know there's somethin nasty in there...lol..is it just me? ok, but I digress. that doesn't mean I don't like it. Nice work.
enjoydotcom (Jul 16, 2007)
It looks like a very stylish drawing of a heart. Smooth...
Sweetcell (Jul 16, 2007)
Looks like deflated balloons, or as Joy says, a heart. The colors are my two faves.
Oh, now as I look closer there looks like a face in the red on the bottom.
Looks like one of the ghosts in the classic Mickey Mouse Ghostbuster short.

Hey, i 'know' you. Great to see you here too! Bet you'll love it here.
Great drawing.
Cameo (Jul 16, 2007)
Excellent! Love the colors! Hope to see a lot more of your work here, I like your style.
Sweetcell (Jul 16, 2007)
Late in commenting, just catching up now. So nice for a first piece, reallt wonderful. It's a treat to have newcomer's with this kind of talent. I agree on the red (you used more a fire engine red that a cherry, I noticed that's what makes this particularly nice on the eyes) and flutterbyes, we all love flutterbyes. Hope you stick around. We can be crazy weird here sometimes, but you'll find overall we're a great community.
Very much Welcome Knuffellutje.

One of those pieces where it's possible to paint for ages and it keeps getting better and better. I'm just too lazy.

I guess I'm going to dedicate a whole day to painting only(not at 2draw). Might be a crazy experience....

Roytje (Jul 16, 2007)
Hehe, I know exactly how you feel :)
I like the sky with the blue and pink.
Sweetcell (Jul 16, 2007)
It's a lovely surrealistic piece. Looks like watercolor pencil, which is the same equivelant as watercolor's.

First picture here... Trying to figure out the tools.
This is one of many variations of a picture I did as a teenager.

If it was just a touch darker it would look like that girl from The Ring. You made it quite creepy though, especially with the open mouth.
kokumi009 (Jul 11, 2007)
it's scary but the soft gray colors takes a bit of that away
the teeth and nose are well-drawn i should say :D
nicely done for a 40-minute work
gizemko3 (Jul 12, 2007)
soft and ghostly... like the way you did the mouth
Wraith (Jul 14, 2007)
Very cool stuff.. This is a very educational drawing for me. When I first started to see this get drawn, I was thinking "What in the world is he doing? That does not look like a mouth. That does not look like a nose." Then I saw the drawing get touched up towards end. WOW! So this is how you artists draw!

That's sweet :)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jul 14, 2007)
I do soooooo love this. I know I say this sometimes, but if this were a real painting, I would buy it, snatch it up, and give it a whole wall in my house to live on. I think it would be gorgeous in a pewter or a tarnished silver frame, an antique one. You did such beautiful work on it. It has a little life of it's own.
friend (Jul 14, 2007)
Reminds me of the song by Elton John and it fits this picture pretty well!
Sweetcell (Jul 14, 2007)
I was waiting for the finish. It's so adorable, you can feel their excitement and trepidation at once. And I love the reflection on the floor, you made it look slick. Just perfect DA. You keep hitting them out. Well done.

"Taste the rainbow"

Seriously I love that you kept it in. I know people are saying there's no head but to me it looks like the head is in shadow. There's the beggining of the base and it fades out. It's powerful, like a reminder for those who still suffer everyday from starvation or desease. Beautiful piece and message Roy.

Oh, I should say in keeping with the theme of suffering, the rainbow looks to be hope for something better. The end of suffering. K Ill get off my soapbox now. :)
Roytje (Jul 8, 2007)
Thank you, Barbara :)
Miss_DJ (Jul 14, 2007)
