There are sliders on the left side of the applet under the layers controls. the top one gives a half-tone kind of effect that looks like the stuff they do embroidery on

Try to go over the lines with the sharpen tool, A little here a little there. Or make a new layer over this and use the half tones Dave mentioned apllying here and there. Very decorative. |

yeah, i know it kinda looks like it was done by an 8 year old who OD'd on fruit loops...but i put a bit more effort in then an 8 year old would've, so i decided to put it up anyway...heh...
