Specialty Boards/Contest!
Sweetcell (Aug 18, 2006)
I don't know why I say I'm not going to enter a contest. The need to enter is like my radioactive pants. The pants command me, do not ignore my veins....

Ok sorry, I've just discovered the joy of Invader Zim and watched a few epi's before I did this.

This is as close as I can come to anime. I know it's not right, I did look up some how to sites and did some sketches on paper, and if anyone can point out what may be off I'll go back and fix it. I just wish I knew how to cell shade better.

You anime experts, please don't laugh at my attempt, and if you do, can you just make it a snicker? 8)

Petas (Aug 19, 2006)
Oo the flowiness of the cape is cool :D
I like how most of it is done without lines.. I'm screwed without lineart haha
And the shading is very nice! even on the city background too!

So yeah, I decided to enter even If I haven't draw anime in my entire life... so it dosen't matter if I win or lose, I will be learning something new :D

Guess who she is, here is a tip: She is three and one. Lol confusing.

---------

Edit! I moved this drawing beacuse I felt It was not very "animeish", and also beacuse I didn't wanted to press myself to finish it before the contest ends... school you know? It surely takes a lot of time.

Hand anatomy hurts my head :S

Anyways, I was reminded today about the Wii and so googled it out of boredom and got sidetracked to random Nintendo-ness.. after watching the trailer for Twilight Princess (even though I've seen it a while ago), I remembered the whole Zelda franchise and how cool/charming it is. I still have to finish Wind Waker someday ..
Looking forward to Twilight Princess, and the Wii, although I hate to sacrifice MGS4 for SSBB, but my wallet gives me no other choice XD

Main thing this pic was for was to practice drawing the hand, and to a lesser extent, eyes and shiny things.
On another note, I reeeally should learn to draw more efficiently.. I mean, 4 hours ? :X

Ah this is very cute, not to mention a beautiful use of solids.
Petas (Aug 19, 2006)
Thanks guys!
As for the hand, I was thinking it was too big also although I was thinking it was more too fat than too long, but I'm the noob :P. It was probably a result of me failing at perspective/foreshortening (her left upper arm/shoulder shows a bit of the same mistakes). If you were to look at a hand in that pose with its fingers pointing mostly towards your eyes, the fingers that you see would be more of a similar length, and fairly short. Keeping the hand in the same pose but looking at it from the side, the fingers are differing lengths and shapes .. but for the angle in the picture, it would be from the front, so the fingers should indeed be shorter..

Thanks again for comments and critique, both are very helpful!

...there's always the issue of temperature.
Drawn out of boredom mostly and being long overdue for a computer drawing. The scene may look a little wierd, and it is ...
Long story short, these two were friends before; the girl got turned into a robot, and now they're reunited. For the occasion guy takes her wherever she wants, which happens to be a nice relaxing cooling-off in the -30 celsius outdoors. I guess cold isn't as much of a problem for robots as it is for humans!

Originally I was going to have a window looking into a room with a fireplace where all of his other friends are staying nice and cozy, but..well....... I'm sleepy.

=D Welcome to 2draw.

Thank you! Looks to be a very nice community here.
Just a question though, is it possible to use halftones in Lascaux sketch? I saw a halftone option in the lower-left corner of the applet, but it was greyed-out and un-clickable.. in almost all of my past oekakis I used halftones for the backgrounds.. not really a big fan of the soft brushes, so it would be great to use halftones again!
squee (Aug 6, 2006)
Robot chick looks fantastic!
As for your question, I'm not so sure that applet has halftones, but the other ones do, like oekaki shi painter.
Welcome to 2draw by the way. You'll fit right in. Just avoid that retards and don't piss of the assholes, and you'll do fine :D
