I might do something else with that background later. Not so sure I like it.

You look like you're doing fine so far, and I bet you'd do even better if you spent a little more time on your drawings. Just so you know, drawings on this board are normally take at least 10 minutes. The actual time doesn't matter so much, but if you work a little longer you may get better results.
