The early fish gets the dangling worm, and the patient fisherman gets his supper.

And I so agree with you on modern art Hunter. Seems more production these days in the high end galleies than actual focus and meaning.
Miss_DJ (edited Jun 15, 2006)
it's so nice of all of you to stop by and comment. I appreciate all your input. As for wondering what the green blob is, it's a fish of sorts, nearing the surface of the water about ready to nab his lunch. Thank you for your compliments hunterkiller and poppa and you too, sweetcell, and I'm happy you find it interesting, artguy79! I love to just create and not concern myself about making things perfect. It's just the way I wanted it. thanks. ((hugs)) Donna

ps as an aside...I know it takes MEGA talent to create realism and copy exactly what a photo might look like...and I bow low to those who know how to do that, but I had an art teacher say "why create something that already exists, make something of your own." That's what I like to do.
Pantera (Jun 15, 2006)
I am with you Miss DJ :)

I did this in pieces to explain how I do this to anyone that wants to know. I use many, many different colors and various size brushes to color the palette until I'm satisfied with how it looks. Then I use the difference tool and make any kind of lines I'd like to. Then I'll set the opacity and brush pressure at about 100, and use the desaturation setting. Then I 'carve' out the shapes that I'd like to accentuate. By using this setting, it tends to bring stuff forward, 3-d-ish. I'll choose the sharpness tool next, highlighting any parts I'd like to for sharpness and 'sparkle.' Finally, I'll grab the blur tool at full strength on opacity and brush pressure and make the background appear even further back, which makes the 'carved' objects appear that much closer.
So, that's what I do. Not sure if that's a clear enough explanation, but since some of you wondered, I thought I'd let you know. I left the upper part of the draw alone to show you the difference of how it looked before I started playing with the different tools.

ps...THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE NICE BIRTHDAY WISHES! IT'S BEEN A LOVELY DAY!

Well I was right, you used the sharp tool and colored the piece first. :D

Thanks for the explanation Donna, I know there are a lot who'll appreciate it (me being one of them)

Go find the present I made for you.

Everyone should have a tree of their very own. This one's for you, Poppa.

We have a tree, and through a particularly windy storm (we got the tail end of that Hurricane) one of the larger limbs broke and took out our powerline and phone line. We had neither for 3 days. Now it's dangerously close to breaking again if we get another bad storm. They're pretty if they're not too close to the house or new crucial lines. We're cutting that sucker down. I'm not worried though, all the streets up here are lined with trees. Lots of icky little canker worms and a bird doodood on me the other day. *sigh* Pretty picture as always Miss Donna.
Miss_DJ (Jun 10, 2006)
sigh...this tree wouldn't harm a fly Sweetcell...sorry you have a bad bad tree. Glad you like my sweet tree. :o) Hunter, I will have to draw you one.
davincipoppalag (Jun 10, 2006)
Even though you left yourself open to the obvious jokes about shrubberies and bushes..(I won't elaborate)... hehehe I love my tree!!! Thanks Donna~~~~ I know..(Every man should have a tree.. every woman should have a bush?) hehe ( can't help it..sorry...>>>skulks away....heheh

So is this what she'll be walking down the aisle with? Have to admit it'd be unique.

Just joshing Donna, it's a pretty bowl of wedding fruit... I mean matron frui... I mean... It's a pretty bowl of fruit. Big day coming up.

Miss_DJ (edited Jun 10, 2006)
thank you for all your comments and fun, smiley words!! no, Cindy....I don't think they'll be there..but, they look fun anyway!! You can see why I chose those invitations, can't you? I think they're perfect, too!!

ok..here's the story on the wedding:

I moved to Oregon, from Illinois in October to be with my fiance' Tom. Our wedding date is June 24th..(in 2 WEEKS..AHHH!!) So, Tom, being Mr. Wonderful, did not want to just 'live together' till June, and wanted to marry me before that to live as husband and wife. (on my part, I had quit my job to move here, and was no longer insured, so I thought from a practical point of view, too, it was a good idea...I'm the practical one..lol) SO ...we got married at Yakina Head Lighthouse in Newport, Oregon on October 21st, 2005. But the REAL, HONEST-TO-GOODNESS, HEAVY-DUTY KICK-BUTT WEDDING/RECEPTION is still on and will be a blast!
We still have several open spots for guests and plenty of food to feed them (Prime Rib, Athenian Chicken, Vegetarian), so if any of my 2draw friends are in Illinois and want to join our celebration, just let me know!! I have about 30 openings!! So, hey, bring your creative dance moves and party with us! memo me for directions.... come on down, poppa and momma and sweetcell...although, poppa, I already have someone to walk me down the aisle, my son.
love, Donna

You're becoming quite the "moviemaker" . Don't overlook the finished picture, folks. I think the shapes look like abstract organic glass sculptures on display in a fabric case, I really like them.
Miss_DJ (Jun 3, 2006)
thank you so much poppa! that's EXACTLY what I was hoping to convey at the end of the 'movie'!
Sweetcell (Jun 6, 2006)
Another picture I thought I commented on and it was only in my head. Like Dave said, one of those glass sculptures but hey I like the fabric. It looks... fabricy.

Sure there is poppa, sure there is. C'mon now, back to your bed, do you need your oxygen?
