1st place: This piece is easily one of the most original out of the 14 entries submitted. Xswirvex's zombie/ghost is a creative blend of different elements, including some recognizable animal features, textures and a bright color composition to tie it altogether. Well done.
enjoydotcom (Oct 20, 2008)
Congrats on first! Well deserved.
Suntan (Oct 20, 2008)

yeah i wasnt that happy with that area either. i tried to find someone to collab with me but nobody was interested, so... oh well. hey klox, could you give me a tip where im off on the proportions?
Kloxboy (Oct 17, 2008)
QM: It really depends on what you're trying to achieve here. There's minimal shading and definition on the figure, was that intentional as part of the style? The figure is grounded on a slightly textured hill, which also doesn't have much form to it and would be consistent with the overall style of the piece.

If you intended this piece to have form and dimension, I would say you need to do a bit more shading, treating all the forms in the image as basic 3-D shapes (cylinders, cubes, spheres, etc.). If on top of that, you intended the fairy's anatomy to be similar to that of a human, I would check out some anatomy books, preferably ones made for artists. Here some quick and basic references I just found:
- basic human proportions
- 60 pages of Dynamic Figure Drawing by Burne Hogarth
- a nice little proportions tutorial

I'm BA-aaaaack.....

Seriously though, I have no friggin' idea what's up with his pose. He's supposed to have his arms folded behind his back with some sort of perspective, but it just looks like he has stumps instead. Oo Go figure. Any way, this is just practice any way, a means to get re-used to everything

Been a VERY long time since I've been back to 2Draw. I'm hoping to frequent a little more often (and with better images).

Just a piece highlighting my worst addiction. =3

twit and HiroDaZero: People start smoking for a variety of reasons but primarily, smoking is a social accessory, it's used to "fit in" (at least initially). It's no surprise teenagers take to smoking so easily, it might as well be a trendy pair of shoes or pants (that gives you cancer).

As for smoking to relieve stress or to relax, this only applies to established smokers. A non-smoker under stress would not benefit from a cigarette because they are not addicted to nicotine yet. When a smoker is stressing out, they tend to chain-smoke because stress mirrors the physical feelings of nicotine withdrawal pangs. Anytime a smoker is smoking, they're merely relieving withdrawal pangs, regardless what the situation is. So think of it this way, smokers smoke just to feel normal, so they don't feel the withdrawal pangs anymore. Non-smokers have no withdrawal to deal with, they don't need nicotine in their systems to feel normal. It's a pretty straight forward addiction and quiting is far easier than it seems to be.
mrwjinx (Oct 8, 2008)
i def use it to manage stress and my nerves...though im currently trying to cut back... X)
Kloxboy (Oct 8, 2008)
mrwjinx: Cutting back is one of the worst things you can do, it just makes the withdrawal pangs worse and quitting even harder to achieve. You can find such information in the book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr. :D

haha yeah, thats what i have been hearing and reading alot of lately. >.<

Clox my friend. Let me just say this. While we disagree politically, I was pleasantly surprised that you would go to the trouble to do such a thing. It says volumes about your character, the kind of person you are. Despite our differences, I would hang out with you, laugh, joke and enjoy. I like you Clox, you're good guy. Thanks.
Kloxboy (Oct 15, 2008)
Dan: No problem broski and thanks, I appreciate it. I've always admired and respected the fact that you're true yourself, whether people like it or not.
