COLLAB Battle!!!
Kloxboy (edited Jun 2, 2004)
That's right, a collab battle. Each of us (2 people) draw a character. This is a series of 3 to 5 collabs. In true Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter (or whatever tricks your trigger) fashion, the first collab is the introduction of the characters and the "FIGHT!" sign/warning. The second collab would be each character unleashing a power, move, what have you, the 3rd collab would be the end result of the fight, the winner in glory, the loser will be pretty messed up I imagine. If you are good with ...

when asked what she thinks of her son, his mother simply replies, "boys will be boys."

edit: well, in retrospect, this looks WAY too much like Clox's char, so I'll probably draw someone else soon instead.
edit: went back and looked at Clox's pic again, and now this seems to border on plagiarism... even got the fingerless glove. damn.

Well he looks good...so they're from the same time era, different clans...they got different head gear and weapons...oughtta be a fair match...
Unless you 'both' don't agree with that?
Knockoff (Jun 7, 2004)
Wow, I really like this one, Zack. I think the shading and scratchy shading give it a rough and tough look. :) I'd like for you and clox's character to fight. ;)
Kloxboy (Jun 7, 2004)
No worries Zach, the practice character I drew was just that, a practice character. My final character will look much different.
davincipoppalag (Jun 8, 2004)
This guy has "tood", and you always have to respect a guy with a big ole axe....

Woaw, what a big neck. His face is a bit squished, eh?
This is cool. I think it would be a good character for the battle.
Pandora (Jun 7, 2004)
Oh do I like this one..He looks like he could tell us a few stories if we dared to stick around. Smiles
Kloxboy (Jun 7, 2004)
Thanks.

Knockoff: You really can't tell his head and face were intentionally made narrow and ape like? To me it seems pretty obvious. In fact, that's what makes this character any bit interesting.

That comment reminds me of when I drew a caricature and someone told me the head was too big for his body, when I told them it was a caricature, they told me they didn't know what a caricature was. What's more funny is this person drew a lot of bad anime, so I wonder how they can even criticize me on my proportions, which were purposely distorted, when they can't even draw normal proportions in their own work.
Zack (Jun 7, 2004)
KO was probably just pointing out the obvious, Clox. He didn't fall off the turnip truck just yesterday. It was at least a week ago.

This is great. Reminds me of one of my old roommates, except this guy's less hairy.

Well, whatever the intention.. it's an interesting piece. It sort of grows on you. I think I like it. :)
tryagainpixie (Jun 6, 2004)
heh,..well i guess it's just the incompleatness it seems makes it stylized *shrug* :D
Kloxboy (Jun 6, 2004)
This looks finished. This artist has a good grasp of design elements and color composition. The artist uses line and color to keep your eye moving throughout the piece. Notice the tension between the 2 legs that come to an arrow like formation, that is a great solution for this design and shows the artists knows his/her shit. The only thing I thought was kinda off was the black but it kinda makes sense because there is a large bit of white in the piece too. I can appreciate this style and I've done similar work in the past.

I understand the whole "I call them like I see them" concept but in the end, if you don't know much about design or art in general, you're comments are going to come off as ignorant babble. I imagine some of you think I'm a prick for saying so, to you I say, lick my nuts! :)

This is different and interesting. I like those blue eyes.
Shmoopy (Jun 6, 2004)
Dood, this is so cool! It's the most stylized piece I've seen in a long, long time. Great job! It's so original.
Kloxboy (Jun 6, 2004)
Nice work, it's one of the more stylish pieces I've ever seen on here. The composition is great, it looks loose but you can tell many of those strokes were intentional. I'd like to see more work from you.

Ty854 (Jun 3, 2004)
Is colorist a word? oh well you are great at coloring and shading.
Kloxboy (Jun 3, 2004)
A colorist is not only a word but a profession. There are 3-D art colorists, comic book colorists and sometimes a colorist refers to someone who understands color theory. Also a colorist is also a name for a hairdresser who specializes in dyeing hair. I suggest you look it up if you don't believe me.
Ty854 (edited Jun 5, 2004)
I believe you. well then i guess theres only one thing i can say to that: you and porcalein ARE both great colorists.
