Always a unique face. Huge nose..small chin...full of emotion somehow..I don't know how you do it..but you do.
Sweetcell (May 2, 2007)
Now this reminds me of the classic tale of the witch in the woods. You need to try more women.

Wait a minute, did that sound right?
Kloxboy (May 2, 2007)
Thanks guys.

Sweetcell: I agree. ;) It's more of an it, than a woman.
Punky (May 2, 2007)
I really love the colors you use in your paintings. And how well you do expressions.
Sweetcell: Now that you mention it, it does look like a witch. Or maybe one of those rocker guys with long hair.

Used a couple bust sculptures for lite reference, I tried to bring out his indifference.

You always do a terrific job on what you draw.. this goes well with Caligula..love the glow of Rome burning in his face
HunterKiller_ (Apr 29, 2007)
Hawt, hawt, hawt.
Maiko (Apr 30, 2007)
Mmmm always love the coloured lighting.
Punky (Apr 30, 2007)
I like this, it looks like a marble sculpture in a dark room with a red floodlight shining down on it.

I like these colours. and his eyes. he's like some kind of crazy frog-man
davincipoppalag (Feb 19, 2007)
Do desks lose socks in the wash, too? I like the contrasting roundness of the eyeball to the angular face.. cool
hideyourface (Feb 20, 2007)

Zack (Apr 30, 2007)

So much warmth, beauty and grace, I couldn't escape her.
Everything is what I offered her and everything is what she became.
But, so I found out, she was never meant to be with. Once this was known, there was no rekindling the flame.
In my mind, she remains so vivid, attempts to forget her and her love have proven agonizingly difficult.
I was left with unrequited love, a curse so consuming it plagued my every thought...but why? and for who?
I was naive, not recognizing she was damned when I first met her.
She was blind and lead me to be blinded myself, this is the way of the damned.
Strong poison are the damned, their sickness lingers way too long.
I now know it is better to reject the damned.
Let the damned be damned.

Looking back
on the memory of
The dance we shared
beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance
Holding you
I held everything
For a moment
wasn't I the king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd' have had to miss the dance
Yes my life
is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
but I'd have had to miss the dance
Garth Brooks

You'll dance again :).

Hey klox, you've really tapped into something great here, in terms of layering and dimension, the implications are awesome, very inspiring.
ranger90039 (Mar 27, 2007)
I keep looking at this piece, it's got this creepy Pinocchio, mannequin feel to it. it would be interesting to see you do a few scary fairy tale drawings. =D
Zack (Apr 30, 2007)
Holy shit, bro. I love this Duchamp-ey kinda stuff you're doing. If I ever get good enough or noticeable enough that people bother to ask me who my influences are, you're going to be on the short list.

You have such a talent for putting amazing feeling and emotion into these eyeless beings.. amazing
patienceisoverrated (Apr 13, 2007)
man this is cool. he looks like he's turning into cement on the inside, with transparent skin like those crazy fish where you can see their internal organs.
R_O_L_O (Apr 15, 2007)
I think he's adorable, :P!

This is too powerful for my head.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 28, 2007)
This seems to be riding the fence between "styles"... I love it. Sometimes riding the fence is way more fun than being on one side or the other. :)
Alter.Native (Apr 28, 2007)
I like the fusion of colors here, but what I love the most is that the result looks effortless..
..and Maynard Keenan is a t r u l y great and talented guy!..(it's him, I guess?..)
Kloxboy (Apr 28, 2007)
Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Alter: You got it, it's Tool's front man. It ended up not looking much like him, I took this piece in too many directions.

Inspired by a special I saw on the History Channel about Caligula, gotta love that channel. Trying to paint more boldly and meaningful like Dan, his work is definitely worth a second look when trying to "paint it digitally". I based this on a bust sculpture of Caligula.

your work is ALWAYS worth a second look
davincipoppalag (Apr 24, 2007)
Your work is worth keeping. This is terrific, I like History channel , too..they have some really interesting stuff on there.
Axil62 (edited Apr 25, 2007)
To be mentioned in that way by an artist like yourself kinda blows me away.
frootcake (Apr 25, 2007)
i wonder what it would look like if Dan tried to paint like you. Have you two ever collab'd?

I've been guilty of playing the victim before, it's bullshit, I know. That been said, there is this group of people out there who are pissing me off, they have mastered the art of being a victim and I'm sick of their bullshit. The following message is for all of you people obsessed with being a victim...

Stop milking your problems, stop playing the martyr, spare me your self-pity, stop punishing yourself, stop blaming everything on circumstance, stop wasting everyone's time and pull your self-deluded head out of your ass.

Exactly, Sweetcell.
TaCO (edited Apr 5, 2007)
I run into walls on purpose, does that make me a victim or stupid???
O wait never mind that would make me a victim of my own stupidity.

Cool pic!!!!
TaCO!!!!!!
Miss_DJ (Apr 23, 2007)
I can *C* very clearly what you're saying Sweetcell. nice one again Monsieur Klox.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 23, 2007)
lolllllllll Derrick :) I'd rather be the "victor" than the "victim". That totally does not make sense. :) At least I'm pretty consistent with my retardation. I like this picture, he looks surprised, like somebody "goosed" him. :D
