My perception of this is not wintry at all..it seems to me like dead white tree trunks that are caught in the blinding white light of the desert sun....
elly (Dec 27, 2010)
I love it! For me, it says 'beach'.....hmmmm.....
Black_Bird (Dec 28, 2010)
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this was Watermark by Enya.

Great drawing.
Suntan (Dec 29, 2010)
Thanks! :)
I don't know how you guys see beach or desert? Why does the delete go away after a day?

eugene,Oregon, and Portland,OR;my hometown, and the big little city;hippies, drugs, riots, gangs, depression, murders, poverty, the Mayor of Portland) worst corrupt state govt.,and "politically correct"crooked politicians this side of Georgia and the Deep South. we kill off all the wild animals, put up freeways,we have a very "Liberal politcally "govt., imported from CA,and New York City. (I'm the only native I know, who's not dirt poor.)well,we are very "politcally correct,"and gay,and everything else.Yuck.

MORE TAXES,and less business here!Oregon is a Liberal,Democractic,"Green""progressive",that is going bankrupt.

it's like DETROIT WITH RAIN.

I have relatives in WA state, but it's very expensive there, and the taxes are even higher.I guess I could not afford it.I still love my place, and Oregon, nature,it's just the people who are rotten.(yes, every place is bad off now, not just this.)

'and gays get married... it's NOT ok!'

Seriously, Lori?
enjoydotcom (Jun 27, 2010)
Ahhh, am I one happy camper that I live in the Netherlands, where gays can get married, you don't get nailed to the wall for the occasional pot smoking (not that I do that), where women are boss of their own bellies, and I am free to believe whatever I want.
Flubbles (Jun 27, 2010)
When I was about 16 me and my friend baz got caught by the police smoking a huge reefer, you dont get in trouble for smoking it but they normally confiscate it all the same. Anyway later that day me and my friend spotted their police car parked up at lovers lane and they were smoking our weed.

davincipoppalag (May 22, 2010)
very pretty
IdaLee (May 22, 2010)
Yes, very pretty. I like the way the flowers stand out against the darkness of the water. And also how the more you look at this, the more you see.

I did this a while ago. I was experimenting with the texture tools to try and mimic watercolour with a textured paper effect. It likely doesn't belong on the advanced board, but I hope it gives some of you some ideas.

It's beautiful! And it does look like watercolor.
Suntan (May 27, 2010)
hmmm..I missed this! wow, you really did do a great job recreating watercolor. It's lovely, like a cove of a larger lake. Quite familiar looking! :)
jekyll (May 27, 2010)
Thank you, all. I've never really tried using watercolour to paint with and to be honest, it never really appealed to me. Lately, however, Ive gained an interest in it and have been studying various techniques on the web. I hope to give it a try in the near future. I made this scene up but there are many places like this in the area where I live. I suppose it's time I start taking advantage of it. It'd be a good excuse to just sit by a lake, anyway.
Suntan (Jun 24, 2010)
Have you been taking advantage of it yet? :)

Teapot (Mar 29, 2010)
was 55 when, astride her horse, she watched the British Navy defeat the Spanish Armada. Cate Blanchett was in her 30's when she did the movie. This is really frustrating because every couple of minutes the drawing tools just stop working for about 10 seconds. I don't know if it's my computer or what but it sure makes drawing a pain in the butt. The real QE1 was swarthy with reddish hair and brown eyes, a hooked nose and thin lips.
Here's a link to the ref photo.

yes, if you dont have insurance. hubby does tho, but limited to 1000 per year and I think there is a deductable also.
elly (Apr 30, 2009)
We pay for dentist visits ourselves as our insurance doesn't include dental, unless you want to pay the ins co. out the ying yang! I go for cleanings every 4 months instead of every 6. I was just like you in my teen years and early 20's so I've had my fair share of saying 'aahhhhhhh'. I've pulled some of my own teeth out but they were baby teeth!! I had the scraping done, called 'scaling' and that's NOT a fun ordeal! Ever since that I vowed to take care of my teeth/gums! Great job on the draw, QT!! Happy flossing! =)
Bubblicious (Apr 30, 2009)
My mom tells me to floss... I still dont, and my mom's insurance for her new job just kicked in, so I think I'm going to visit the dentist soon. I hope I dont. Doesn't sound fun, like at all... I'll try to find some floss, maybe even steal some from my mom.
QTgillie (Apr 30, 2009)
good you two.....Bubble, I decided I like the Crest Glide. I does't shread like some others. I had bad teeth in college, got all of that fixed and took extremely good care of them from college until when we left Willmar, which I did not want to do. Got depressed and stopped caring about anything and put off getting a dentist. Now I am paying for my stupidity!
