This is great.

I love the colours you've used in this, and those lips are gorgeous.

Had this one in my collection of things to try and it fit into the week's theme. Didn't use the theme board because it seems a handicap -- less file space, canvas size, and time as well as being restricted to the theme. Seems strange to have that board at all. Used a reference pic for this one.

Sexy. But not really. I love how snakey he is.

...are those bug legs sticking out of the lollipop?
Gigge (Jul 27, 2004)
Yeah, those are bug legs. If you look closely you can see the whole bug in the candy. Snakey...I forgot the forked tongue I'd been planning from the start. Oh well. I don't want to get even more creeped out zooming in on that mouth again. I don't know how DMV does it time and again.
cmb (Jul 31, 2004)
very nice drawing! I should hate to meet him at the dentists!
laurael (Aug 1, 2004)
Great, scary contribution...definitely wouldn't want to meet up with 'him'...!

I'm very happy for you people who understand how to make skin look real... I really am :)
debem (Jul 10, 2004)
Nice work! The lines around her eyes and the darkening of her teeth lead me to believe that she is in her mid 30's.
davincipoppalag (Jul 11, 2004)
She's eleven but she's had a hard life....
Gigge (Jul 11, 2004)
Hahaha, funny thing is, the girl must have been about 12 in the original image. She looks in her late 20's to me....so.....I guess I need to work on kids. Gotta remember they have bigger foreheads and shorter noses. So much to learn!!

I just thought the picture was cool because he looked like the Muppets' Beaker incarnate.

hehe I just love the hair! makes me smile every time I look at it. Almost looks like a modern piece crossed with that one artist..ugh, the one who does the famouse portraits in mexico. yeah, that one. anyways, I like it Gigge!
emmamommalag (Jul 6, 2004)
It makes me smile, too. I love it, Gigge.
mangaflip (Jul 7, 2004)

I'm sorry lady. I tried a different technique on the skin tone. Oy.

Now this is freaky. I have friends who live in Tennessee and the wife's name is Stephanie. When I saw the picture, my wife looked and said "someone drew Steph!" How wierd!
laurael (edited Jul 2, 2004)
I like how you did her hair and her eyes...her right brow looks pretty real with that little bit of extra detail under it...nice!
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
I like this! nicely done.

Experimenting with skin tones. Color scares me big time. I don't know what her name is. She just looked kind of like a Stephany in her reference picture. Then again she was kind of pretty in the reference picture.

davincipoppalag (Jul 1, 2004)
Same girl..I posted about how freaky it was to see this picture (which, btw looks exactly like our friend!)
01 (Jul 1, 2004)
I wish somebody clued me in on how to create textures like the one you used on this girl's clothing =)
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
I like this one even more...nice skin tones, love the texture on her dress....You gedda pick the aminal cookies you want.

Better to have that mess in a sketch than in my head....no reference.

cool pic... i like the green tones you've used, help make it look more interesting...
the body looks kinda buff...lol
davincipoppalag (Jun 27, 2004)
Nice sketch (ing). Maybe darken up the background to make the face stand out more..it's hard to see the whole thing
emmamommalag (Jun 27, 2004)
Interesting picture. I, also, like the green shading and agree that it needs a darker background.
Gigge (Jun 27, 2004)
Hehe, yeah I cheated on the background. I just used this sketch to test a bunch of stuff I hadn't done while doing all those portraits....an older woman, someone facing left, and drawing without a reference. But, I hadn't studied bodies, so....I guess I did use a reference...a mirror for the 'buff' shoulders that don't fit with the head. Thanks, Sal. ;D

Here's the reference: http://www.jimemery.com/people/oldluckettsman.jpg. This is turning out quite different from the original. I hope it's not too bad in the end. I just read the photo caption and the guy lives in a neighboring county! Not good to offend your neighbors.

Agreed about poppa's suggestions. Both hands need to be dulled down a bit. As it is now they're barely noticeable, but with a little shading they'll look great. That's a great reference picture. Your take on it is comin along nicely :)
Gigge (Jun 26, 2004)
:S Out of space again. I need you guys standing over my shoulder making these suggestions before I submit! Hmmm
deannak24 (Jun 27, 2004)
gigge you so lied when i 1st took you into a sketch program about you not being able to draw.....shame on you cos you have put me to shame....i love your detail and im expecting lessons very soon lol

I googled this image, but am omitting the link and the name to protect the innocent. It's not his fault the sketch turned out this way.

Do you know the person?
Gigge (Jun 25, 2004)
No, do you?
davincipoppalag (Jun 25, 2004)
Nope..Just wondered because you said you googled it.. I guess I thought you put in a name to get this..
emmamommalag (Jun 25, 2004)
I like it, Gigge. Very nice job on his hair and he has a nice smile that shows in his eyes.
