Simply stunning!! It reminds me of smooth lead color pencil drawing. Great detail!!!
Flubbles (Aug 10, 2009)
Thanks i might finish it later, but when i open it up to revise it theres a few unwanted pixels flying around so i'd have to get rid of them aswell.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in undergrowth,
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Robert Frost ~ 1875

oh Aakyra, this is truly a master piece. So lovely. You put so much of yourself and attention to every aspect of your draws.
Aakyra (Jul 20, 2009)
Sorry for the delay in saying thanks! I do appreciate the thoughtful comments. And Grey Ghost, I love the poem, it really inspired me to work to the finish on this. The picture seemed to be a visual of the words. Thanks QT! I am always honored by a commeny from you, and Sun, good friends always!
sofballchik0323 (Aug 10, 2009)
oh this is beautiful!! the poem is great too, i actually sang a song with those words for as a solo a few years ago, my first thought when i saw this was that you had heard the song, it adds another level of meaning to the words as only music can. but this is an absolutely gorgeous painting and i hope you do more landscapes soon :)
Aakyra (Aug 10, 2009)
I am sure that your performance was wonderful... the words are really beautiful, and I didn't think until you mentioned it how lovely they would be set to music! Thank you for the comment, it was so very nice!

twisted statement.............................................................. I went and saw geese, a sleeping pig, sleeping ducks, sleeping sheep and a really greedy goat today. Then I bought candy and catnip... and two big beautiful flowers that a little girl was selling for a dollar.... then I came home and my son told me my imagination sucks.
firecracker (Aug 7, 2009)
"Axil".....sometimes you say the "weirdest" things......ya never know whut's gonna come out of your mouth next....but I know that you don't really mean what you said in that statement you made above. I see in another draw that you just became an uncle......you should try to be a good influence on your new nephew.......:)

This is supposed to be Ellen Page if you can't tell. I had some proportion problems...
Anywho, I just watched An American Crime... it was a bit disturbing. D8
Ellen was great in it, though.

How far into it are you? It will get less boring. But I really didn't care for it.
Moosh (edited Aug 6, 2009)
I'm at the part where she cut his balls off... o.O
Yeah, I don't really care for it either.

edit: nope, still has his balls.
meh, the ending was okay. wouldn't want to watch it again, though.
shults (Aug 6, 2009)
We could've guessed you didn't care for it much, as you stopped two times during the movie to comment here.

I'm not familiar with Ellen Page.....but this is a really good draw!! :)

I agree with you 100%, flubbles! I'm ready to pitch it for sure! I almost did but decided I drew on it so many different times that I'd post it for a short time to show everyone what NOT to do! LOL!!! The main prob I had was not using enough layers in the beginning..ALWAYS USE LAYERS!!! Not sure why I didn't this time. I appreciate your openness, flubbles and I know you're not trying to be mean =) Oh, and I'm looking for a 12 step program to help with my dodge and burn addiction!!!! o_0 Thanks, y'all c:
firecracker (Aug 3, 2009)
"Wow"!! This draw really "shines"!! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one here that "over uses" the dodge/burn tools!! "lol"!! Seriously though.....I like this draw......I like how everything just looks so shiny.....it sparkles!!! She does make me think of Wynona Judd......very pretty. Cool draw Elly!!!! :)
Miss_DJ (Aug 4, 2009)
This is majorly cool, elly! As far as 'too much' dodge and burn...hell, I think there are no tool-rules here, as much as some people tend to think so. In this instance, those particular tools make it rock.
NekoChibi (Aug 6, 2009)
Ever Tried Michael Jackson? xD sry.
Version 1 was nice but It's good to get to know the burn tool verry well. :)

What traditional media is similar to the oekaki programs?
kupocoffee (Jul 30, 2009)
Hello everyone!! I have really sad news, My tablet PC crashed so I can't produce anymore oekaki work. Eventhough I have seen wonderful work with a mouse, I don't think I have the patience to tryout a mouse drawing. I still would like to draw and produce some art, So here is my question... What Traditional media is similar to the painting style that shi painter has? I've tried acryilc and watercolor but it's not the same smooth texture that shi painter or any other oekaki program has. Anyone ...

Woohoo! After a long time of procrastinating, I finally decided to get a tablet. Thought I'd give it a quick whirl!

I got a wacom bamboo fun medium size.

Few problems before when using Oekaki shi painter. Whenever I'd press onto the drawing area in shi painter, it'd sometimes randomly click to eraser or a different colour? I disabled the side keys on the pen too.

Anyone got any other tips for drawing with this? It hasn't taken long to adjust from mouse to pen though.

I am just about to buy a pen tablet, how do you feel about the bamboo Wacom? Does it work pretty well for these kinds of boards? I spend a significant amount of time drawing and painting online, I have arthritis in my hands, and the touchpads I use for drawing make my hands move around too much; a pencil, or pen stuck in one hand, would not do so much movement with my fingers and hands; better for the arthritis. So, what kind of tablet pen, and pen tablet, do you recommend? Anybody got any advice? most expensive Wacom? Or do the cheaper ones of different brands work pretty well? Really like any advise people would give me, because I'm about to spring for one, and I want to get something fairly good. Thanks all.:).
Flubbles (edited Aug 5, 2009)
I know somebody who suffer's from arthritus and they use one of the intuos 4 line's wacom tablet, because it has a grip pen.Ive alway's used a mouse, even though ive got a tablet ive only used it a few times.
backmagicwoman (Aug 5, 2009)
I have a Wacom Bamboo..and a Wacom Graphire...The bamboo is ok...but I much prefer the Graphire...I started out with a mouse..worked with that for two years before I got a tablet and now you couldn't pay me enough to go back to the mouse...lol...but i think either one of those is good..
kupocoffee (edited Aug 5, 2009)
I just got a bamboo fun (small) this week because my tablet pc crashed. I like it!! I'm very happy with my bamboo fun with the few days that I've been using it. I actually use the eraser part for drawing because I find it more comfortable. I use a cloth on the active area(or a sock or a handkerchief) (I used a sock the first time until my mother gave me a handkerchief) to protect the pen and the active area. I notice That I've been pushing too hard. That can cause a scratch in the active area and the pen nib to dull down. So the cloth works for cheap protection. LOL cool drawing!
