Nice, it's experimental and different. I like how you try different styles, I think it's the only way to really grow as an artist.
Dr.Snoopy (edited Nov 7, 2006)
Thanks! Although that you risk to make something that doesn't "look good", there is also a high risk to learn something new and get inspiration for further work.
In my eyes it's all about skill and making mistakes.
When I paint, then I try do implement some elements that I already mastered (being able to do them intentionally), and as I paint there occur some unintended mistakes. Some of them look interesting and others do not.
So I try to follow those new elements and try to understand what makes them so interesting. And if I don't make mistakes, I force them to happen by drawing intentionally not correct.
It is a lot of fun, but you should not try to many different things at once. Keep it simple and try to put some time into this new thing.

Making too many mistakes at once (well, you/me already do infinite unintended movements at any moment) makes your work seem pretty random.
And this is what I do wrong...I do not develop enough skill in every style.
I do not draw enough to handle them all.

EDIT: Is it just me, or can others also not see most images on 2draw?
Kloxboy (Nov 7, 2006)
I totally agree. I let my imagination and skill collaborate as much as possible, and I'm all about happy mistakes sometimes. I like your system.

And yes, every other day, it seems a good third of the images don't load properly. Might be our browsers though, not sure. oO

it's always easier to get showcased if you copy photographies.
This one could have been much better...But I lost my patiences when the Shi Painter (or generally my browser) went crazy.
(It could have been also much worse, because I'm experimenting)

Thanks for all those comments! ... the early ones pushed me very well forward
fleeting_memory (Nov 7, 2006)

I like the blocky shading + strong outline, it's awesome. Not sure how useful it is for anatomy practice but it's a cool graphic effect.
Dr.Snoopy (Oct 29, 2006)
MrPaul, thanks for pointing that out...I din#t really noticed that before.
Well it was just intended to be very quick anatomy practice mixed with some graphical stuff to make it watchable in this board...but these tips do actually help....so don't stop ^^
And yeah I noticed the big head and hands too...but they do fit very well (original).

This is the issue with using paintings and sculptures as reference, they are never 100% correct. And this is why I hate my anatomy-book ...it's full of lousy handmade drawings(or doodles), and it tell you to draw people in real life. But this is hard, because I'm not going to find a naked person, willing to pose for me a few hours a day, that easily.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Oct 29, 2006)
I like the way it's kind of in a "poster edge" style and the palette is really pleasing. I don't think everything has to be anatomically correct to be pleasing (actually, a little "morphing" of that in a work like this makes it more interesting sometimes)

"Asian jail bait"!!Wow!Lovely skin texture, satiny. (Have you been reading books on pin-up girl artists, that used to be?? Long ago. Guys painted nothing but very sexy, gorgeous dames, nude,or semi-nude,they looked better than the real thing. Reminds me of it. a little. ) Wildly erotic. (whee--oo, baby, how much do you charge??) Notice how the allure is increased by having clothing almost falling off, not nude. Excellent work; report to Playboy mag. now.
