A really happy guy. I don't really know what he's grinning about, but it has to be something good.
MD_Anonymous (Dec 10, 2004)
I like how you did the shading, really spiffy.

What a nasty habit. I mean it may look kind of cool, but in the long run it'll ruin your health.I didn't notice the red around the eye until a second ago, so I had to fix that.
davincipoppalag (Dec 7, 2004)
yea,,damned things are more addictive than heroin.. lights up... um wouldn't she like this butt better if she didnt have the filter end burning and the tobacco end in her mouth?
Asridaein (Dec 8, 2004)
yeah I noticed that last night after I edited the red part out of her face, I was kind of mad that I didn't realize that sooner. Anways, I am planning on fixing that. Thanks for pointing it out and your comment. :)

so far a clean even toned picture, still have to add more depth and tone to the picture. not to forget a background of some sort.
canibal_misfits (edited Nov 4, 2004)
clean and even toned bwahahahaha joking it looks good lol tint her hair pink at the ends
emmamommalag (Nov 4, 2004)
Nice start, Amari. I like the blue hair.
Cordelia_Pink (Nov 4, 2004)
This is quite interesting since the hair is that color, and the expression is very expressionless. Like a model. Anyhow, good job. Very simple. Oh but of course, you're still working on it.
Xodiak (Nov 4, 2004)
She looks attractive... Mmmm... pretty! <:D|XOD| |

Yeah! I finally finished the drawing. I thought he'd look good in black and with a tattoo, so he got 'em. So what do you think?
emmamommalag (Aug 17, 2004)
Looking good so far.. I like his expression.I think that the yellow, orange, and red look better than the first version. I think that perhaps I need to mess around with the background a bit more before i am truly satisfied.

I couldn't figure out what else to do, and since BBS is such a basic program for drawing I couldn't do any other affects that i wanted to.
So this is the end result.
1) Decide on a direction of the light, and stick to that same direction of light for both the hair and the skin
2) Create depth using shadows on the skin, keeping in mind basic human anatomy for where the shadows would fall given the direction of light
3) For the hair, try to use a thinner brush on lower opacity to detail the individual hairs... Also, don't put dark and light hairs all the way through the mass of the hair... You want to create depth by using light and shadow, so emphasize the direction of light by making (in this picture) the top of the head have more lighter hairs and the bottom having more slightly darker hairs (also choose a darker tone for the underside of the hair)
4) Think of how hair bends away from the part... Use your slightly darker tones nearer to the roots, and then a highlight at some point soon after in order to emphasize the curve of the hair away from the scalp.
5) Try to use thinner brushed in general, and different layers for different parts of the lineart.
6) Try not to emphasize the "smile" lines around the mouth... It's not attractive, and adds age to the person you're drawing.
Gaah, I don't konw what I'm talking about. Whatever... Nice drawing :)
