frootcake (May 24, 2006)
this is for the contest, i wanted to do a beach scene, a place where friends come together to play, read books, and lay about. i felt inspiration from Monet and am pretty happy since this mostly from my head :)

I love Monet, I did a study of the evening haystack this week and then deleted it. I had to laugh at myself because I was furious that I couldn't make mine look exactly like his. I like the variation of colors you used on the figure. (There's too much to do at the beach to lay around and read books!)

Beautiful style and color..you really pulled it off

"Well Gruffalo," said the mouse. "You see? Everyone is afraid of me!
But now my tummy's beginning to rumble.
My favourite food is -------- gruffalo crumble!"

"Gruffalo crumble!" the Gruffalo said,
And quick as the wind he turned and fled.

"I'mma show you how to do it right...
Do it right!? (UH HUH!)
Do it right!?
Do it right-
Do it right-
Do it riiiight! Aaaaaah!
Twist it! Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, baby!"

This scene makes me so happy. =D

Poor attempt at Ray Charles in the background.. Actually, the whole Background sucks. I quit trying to make it better after a while. Might fix it later.

"You're the best single-serving friend I've ever had. You see, everything on a plane is--"
"No, I got it. It's very clever. How's that working out for you?"
"What?"
"Being clever."
fleeting_memory (May 22, 2006)
Jack? There's no Jack in the movie....
Miss_DJ (May 22, 2006)

Sweetcell (May 22, 2006)
Ok ok Clox, I didn't know the exact line but I do remember how cold that man was in describing how he killed his wife and girls.....

DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 22, 2006)
sup, doc? I miss you drawing here frequently, but it's really a wonderfully pleasant surprise when I see something by you. Mad Jack scares the hell out of me, you did a great job on his expression.

Contest Week 15: The Scene
Kloxboy (edited May 28, 2006)
Contest Week 15: The Scene Your goal this week is to illustrate a scene. Choose a scene from your favorite book, movie, TV show or video game. The scene should include 2 or more characters. The characters in your scene should not take center stage, you want the whole -scene- to be important to the viewer. Keep in mind this is one scene, not a series of scenes like a comic book. Be original and please do not copy other artists work. Things to consider adding to your scene (BUT NOT RE...

A sad movie which underlines the misery and despair of war.

Wow, forget my draw, this one rocks..... well, lots of people suffered from that war, sad, but good representation.
davincipoppalag (May 19, 2006)
Great drawing , as usual.
Kraisa (May 20, 2006)
yeah so I hate you...in the good way one artist hates another one cause you are better. You really should make money doing this. I know durring school we read things like "All Quiet on the Western Front" and while I liked it...so many of the other students would have if it had your art to go with it.
Mad_Cow_Disease (May 24, 2006)
wow, i really like this, looks very good. reminds me of Otomo's work in both Steamboy and Metropolis.

Kraisa (May 19, 2006)
So yeah I drew this picture of Mr. Price there thinking I would do this movie...then I finished and realized he was quite a bit older in this...but I still like the movie and its what I wanted to do so there...I used a reference photo I found on the net.
And you can just imagine that he was younger...the camera adds twenty years right?

davincipoppalag (May 19, 2006)
Good job on him ,Kraisa..age difference or not.
Kraisa (May 20, 2006)
Thanks for the kudos from all :)
and yes who doesn't!! Vincent Price is awsome!!! My computer used to laugh like him when ever it got turned off!
(You should all see this movie...it's nice campy horror. And the original House on Haunted Hill...that one actually had me laughing.)

Zack (May 21, 2006)
Actually they are related, but the anime isn't exactly an adaptation. source

And I don't think you should just forget the anime either. Ebert called it one of the best animated films he'd ever seen. Getting a 91% at rottentomatoes is no small feat, imo.
Sweetcell (May 21, 2006)
Wow, I clicked here and found out I won. Hey, wow....
