I was amazed by the work being submitted and felt compelled to have another go! I may have to modify this - but I think it isnt too bad....

Ok give up! Times almost up anyway I think?
here is a link

but working off a dodgy print of it doesnt help! the original colours are far more glowing!

Another great entry Christine. It's funny, but I never noticed anything special about the smile, enigmatic or anything. I'm always amazed by the backdrop, strange to say but.... yeah.

Salvador Dali's "Geopoliticus Child Watching the Birth of the New Man" (1943)
http://www.bancodedadosvisual.hpg.ig.com.br/Salvador_DaliGeopoliticusChildWatchingtheBirthoftheNewMan.jpg
(I'm using my book on Dali for this)

This work marks Dali's development of a style modeled on the techniques of the Old Masters.
I love this painting's concept, its power and its timeless energy.

Yes, I wanted to revise it another time, but I hadn't enough space (for the second time :()
But thank you!

dude, how could this not make it to the Showcase?? haven't seen one of these styles in a very, very long time! you did an excellent job, I knew instantly that it was Van Gogh. I like your take on this too because you didn't try to make it look exactly like it, and there's a blur in parts of it that makes it look softer compared to the orig. that has all the intricate details, which seem quite intense and sharp. But you still did great.
Roytje (Apr 4, 2008)
Thank you! Such a comment means a lot to me :)

Very nice Roytje! I too have this print in living room. Thought about recreating it, but man, so tedious.

I was really torn between this one and Moosh's Armor painting... This one truly captures what the meaning of the painting is... and I'm not really sure even the original artist did that... you definitely did. I smell baby powder, and I think this would make a great decal on a nursery chest-of-drawers. :)

Thank you all wonderful people very much. :)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Dec 16, 2006)
I'm just now going through and checking out all the finished entries... I think this was a neat choice for something to do... I'm not familiar with it, so I learned something by viewing it and you did a wonderful job on it.

I started something for this one and never even got close to finishing it... my butt has been parked in the woods alot, lately, and when I'm here I just piddle piddle piddle :).
Sweetcell (Dec 17, 2006)
Thank you so much Cindy. I want to go back and fix that grey area.

This is quite good. The flesh tones and texture are perfect, and the warm glow in the background adds mood and depth.

I have always loved Picasso's work. I would love to give this another shot when I have more than a mouse, more time, and know the programs better. Anyway, it was fun trying.
