Contest Week 90: Blue Silence
Kloxboy (edited Dec 19, 2008)
Contest Week 90: Blue Silence Paint something using only a blue color palette (any and all variations of the color blue). The subject of your work should convey silence (in meaning, do not write the word in your painting). No photo references are to be used, just use your imagination. I'm going back to basics with these next few contests, perhaps someday we'll try something a bit more challenging, like the Rockwell contest. I am taking contest suggestions via memo (and only by memo). ...

VROOOOOOM ?

This is actually a really interesting concept. Despite the noise the cars make, I can't really imagine noise in this moment. Like the viewer is sort of drowning out the sound of the cars passing by and kind of zoning out in their head.

Maybe I'm thinking to much about it, but I do like this.

It feels like one of those long car rides where you're sleeping and you just woke up to see bunch of car lights passing by in a streak of colors...

Whales, despite their enormity, are so elegant. Very impressive piece, you really captured that underwater lighting well.

An experiment in value relativity?
Axil62 (edited Dec 18, 2008)
No, but I did poke my wife's boob a few minutes ago.

bette_davis_eyes (Dec 17, 2008)
very pretty draw
GrooveZombie (edited Dec 17, 2008)
Fantastic piece so far. The cave opening and the reflections on the water/ice are absolutely wonderful. Great lighting overall, really, and the atmosphere you've created is very effective. I really can't believe this was done without a ref, true skill.
MelissaMissy (Dec 18, 2008)
Wow, that's really pretty. The water looks warm, because of the sun. This is great, honestly.

This is beautiful! You are so excellent with texture! I definitely feel the silence in this.
ChalkDust (Dec 17, 2008)
I'll agree with GrooveZombie, I really love the fading of the large planet. It gives it a sense of just how big it really is, and reminds me of how quiet space must be.
Miss_DJ (Dec 17, 2008)
thank you all very much. I couldn't think of anything more quiet than the vacuum of space.

No reference, I started a different one before, but Lascaux tragically failed on me :(. Was ready to throw in my hat, but blue is a great color and snow and clouds a joy to draw.

ChalkDust (Dec 17, 2008)
I really like the texture in the bark; and the clouds and snow are very nice too
