Muses are cat-like creatures who can exist simultaneously in many different dimensions. To be with a Muse will fill you with the inspiration and knowledge of many worlds, and spur you towards creative expression, the highest form of the sentient condition. But be warned: Muses cannot be called on command, nor can they be caged. Muses must choose to come to you of their own unfathomable will, and may choose to ignore you for a period of several years. Although aloof and uncaring, Muses still seem to find enjoyment in fraternizing with humanity, if for no other reason than amusement. I guess this is as good as it gets. Indirectly inspired by my friend Carolyn. Thank you Kloxboy for the extra space :)

Kloxboy (Mar 8, 2007)
That's pretty sweet. I like the depth in this one. The forms have an organic quality to them, like they're alive. oO
Altard (Mar 8, 2007)
That's awesome. I love how smooth it is, it looks like something someone would make on Photoshop. I love abstract works.

Mocha_Bean (Mar 8, 2007)
I like how it looks like wires twisted together...and it also looks like a wild party with college kids rampant..and Darthfurby called an eyesocket, I say its a mouth and he's screaming "WOOO!! PARTY!!"...or "WOO!! some drapes have caught my mouth in a stronghold!"...but that just me.. :) |

I was testing my skills as a painter. Reference from http://www.mediafocusphotos.com/samples/woman.jpg only for the shapes of the facial features and perhaps the expression, in a vague sort of way. Of course I can't draw exact replicas of things, as I am not that skilled.
Dr.Snoopy (edited Mar 8, 2007)
Yeah it can be frustrating if you seem to get the shapes not right if the only focus is on them. You say you're not that skilled, but I believe it's all about practice...so the main task for you is to make yourself draw a lot(realistic stuff) and to invest a decent amount time into it. A good way to do that is to set yourself some interesting goals with your paintings. Such as "Draw him in a way so he looks like a serial killer" ... so that you have some to go crazy with, besides the boring(!) replication process. Or join a competing where you think "These guys really need to get their asses kicked!" :D Or just get some inspirational music...it gives you this" I going to create something amazing" feeling. Or speaking as a man draw some sexy stuff...^^ Just don't make the whole process to a pain in the ass :P I think you can apply these tips on painting in general. ..practice your skills and on the other side do some experiments. Seeing your caricatures I guess the creative part is less a problem for you :) Trust yourself that with a certain amount of time you will be able to get the results you want. ;) Oh god I'm giving advices although no one requested them -_-

Thank you, Dr. Snoopy. I actually had a particular song whose image from my mind I wanted to re-create. Though this is just the sketch of it for now, until I can completely master the human form. This, you could say, would be the first in a series. I have a lot of free time on my hands, as you can see by the frequency of my posts, so time to practice will not be a problem. This is kind of silly, but the image I had in mind was Eve (as in Adam and Eve) hearing her first sounds, like all hitting her at once, and the face of bewilderment she might have had. I guess a lot of my subject matter is fantastical, so a lot of it will be "sexy" because mythical creatures are depicted as such in traditional works. :) Thank you for the advice, and for taking the time to say all that. :) Felt it was too blotchy here and there, so I touched it up and made it slightly if at all crisper. I like it better now. I even re-did the background, but using its original colours.
