So... it's Saturday night and I'm all alone and feelin' kinda blue, and then I hear this sound on my wooden living room floor... jingle, jangle... jingle..., I poke my head around the corner, and it's a long, tall redheaded cowboy named Brian that I have known since he was a little boy, and he tips his hat and says "Lookin' gorgeous Ma'am, as always", and grins. Yes, that's my coffee table, and he can put his feet up there anytime (that's why I have a coffee table made of wood, just like the floor :) and spit in a can while he sits on my couch. Ain't no bitchin' 'bout that kind of behavior around here, because sweet, well-mannered cowboys always make my blues go away. :D

Brian manages one of the large ranches just a skip from my house. He had his spurs custom made and I think they're cool because they're a clover, (and the rowels are rounded on the ends so they're gentle to the horses) so I decided to take a picture and paint them.

Today I started loving you again
And I'm right back where I've really always been
I got over you just long enough to let my heartaches mend
Then today I started loving you again.

What a fool I was to think I could get by
With only these few million tears I've cried
And I should have known the worst was yet to come
And crying time for me had just begun.

'Cause today I started loving you again
And I'm right back where I've really always been
I got over you just long enough to let my heartaches mend
Then today I started loving you again.

Yes, today I started loving you again...

THE HAG

or was that yesterday? :)

I don't really like posting things unfinished, but lately I feel like I have to in order to make myself complete something. I can't seem to finish ANYTHING I start, I have spring fever or something.
_INGRID_ (May 7, 2007)
wow, another great picture! love those colours. Hey..i would like to meet a cowboy with that "jingle, jangle" sound :)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited May 8, 2007)
It's a ways from being finished, but thank you. :) If you wanna hear "jingle, jangle, jingle"... come on down... we have plenty of that goin' on around here. :D

I don't even bother closing the front door all the way shut till the latch clicks, much less locking it... I know I have company when I hear a boot kick and someone yells "Highway Patrol!" (my little brother and whomever happens to be with him,) lol... or... the wind blows through the house and then I hear the jingle jangle clomping on my floor. It's pretty much open house around here all the time. :)
JK-Arts (May 7, 2007)
Country girls are fun. I'm here in Tennessee now!
Gigandas (edited May 7, 2007)
This is really interesting as unfinished. The areas that are closer to finished, seem to really pop out at you, while the other parts seem to melt into the rest of the picture.

....if that makes any sense.
_INGRID_ (May 7, 2007)
haha.. sounds like fun! well who knows.. .i'm gonna get me some real nice boots so i can 'jingle, jangle' too.. :) so see you soon!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited May 7, 2007)
Well, then you should KNOW...!! Tennessee girls are the closest to Texas girls you'll get without "getting next to a TEXAS GIRL" lol
(thanks Gig and Ingrid)

Gretchen Wilson sings it best, I think: (might as well fill the whole picture text up with redneck lyrics, huh? :)

I ain't never had a problem with California
There's a lot of good women from Sacramento to Corona
But them Hollywood types after a while wearon ya
Struttin' around in their size zeros
Skinny little girls no meat on their bones
Never even heard of George Jones

Ain't you glad we ain't all California girls
Ain't you glad there's still a few of us left
That know how to rock your world
Ain't afraid to eat fried chicken and dirty dance to Merle
Ain't you glad we ain't all California girls

There ain't nothing wrong with plastic surgery
Well Dolly Parton never looked so good to me
Everybody ought to be exactly who they want to be
But that Paris Hilton Gets under my skin
With her big fake smile and and her painted on tan
She'd never have a chance at a real man

Aint you glad we ain't all California girls
Ain't you glad there's still a few of us left
That know how to rock your world
Ain't afraid to eat fried chicken and dirty dance to Merle
Ain't you glad we ain't all California girls

Ain't you glad we ain't all California girls.

dayum! awesome textures and colors Cindy! whoa! makes me wanna see the rest of him...lol terrific!!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited May 9, 2007)
haha... I have a photo of the "rest of him" on my couch... it's a loooooooong photo... he's very tall, and topped off with a big grin and red hair (well, the hair is under his cowboy hat, but... :) He's a doll. (thank you)
Kloxboy (May 7, 2007)
Looks pretty cool so far. the details in the leather are awesome. Should be a tight piece.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited May 8, 2007)
See, now that's just the encouragement I needed to get busy and finish it. Thank you. :)
davincipoppalag (May 7, 2007)
I think I enjoy the pictures you paint of your mind and life with these comments as much as I do the pictures themselves..you're the Queen of leather mizz Cindy
Sweetcell (May 7, 2007)
I finally finished a piece I started last year, so I'll give that bubble butt a push to have you finish this piece. Really looking good sweeting.

You are also the Queen of Wood Grain, Cindy! I love this entire painting. The texture in the leather, the shiny detail in the spurs (awesome spurs btw), even the slightly worn look to the cowboy boot, heel! This is the best, girl. You have magnificent talent!!! I'm not from Texas or Tennessee (Not far from Tennessee though) but does urban cowgirls count?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 10, 2007)
Thank you very much... thanks to all of you that commented. Guess I should get my bubble butt in here and finish this thing.

Those're some busy spurs. Saw Brian two days ago with his head down over the big red Greenwade ranch gate, he saw my truck flying by and gave me a backhanded "I'm busy but I see you" wave. :)

Think I'm probably just one short revision away from being finished with this, but I'll wait till it's not 3 am when I can actually see what I've done here to decide that.
enjoydotcom (May 15, 2007)
This is just awesome, the thing that makes your drawings 'perfect' is that you also draw the imperfections, if you know what I mean.
I just wonder how you got the woven texture on the jeans and the fine line of the leafs on the spur.
TammyF (May 15, 2007)
Your work always leaves me catching my breath and sitting in awe!!! The textures here are sooooo realistic!!! Excellent work!!!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 15, 2007)
Thank you, I used the halftone tool on part of the jeans and for the engravings on the spurs I just used a one pixel brush.

wowee... some serious detail there honey.... fabulous work! You must be glad you finally finished huh? I hope that boy appreciates this! I love the messy heel of the boot the most.
DoOp (May 15, 2007)
Amazing : ) <33!
PS (May 16, 2007)
That is awesome work, you got the textures perfect.
Sweetcell (May 16, 2007)
It's this line he says when he tips his hat to you, "Lookin' gorgeous Ma'am, as always", that makes me want to meet a tall charming cowboy. Seems to me the only chivalry left in the world comes from good ol boy Cow Pokes.

This is just..... everybody said it for me, the leather and jeans and wood and metal. You do em well Miss C, you do em well. :)
JK-Arts (May 16, 2007)
i wish that shadow was better. Shadow Aside you Rock the South with this picture it is great but allready know this.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited May 17, 2007)
Thanks... Gotta watch out for sweet-talkin' cowboys, though, they can be ever so dangerous. :)
Anna (May 25, 2007)
@ JK-Arts: It's cuz her monitor is darker than ours.

I love these pics you do. You got all the elements down so well... that metal, leather, jean, wood etc :D
Deino (Jun 3, 2007)
Oh my god... just... Wow. o.o
STARZSHINE (Feb 8, 2008)
