Well I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day

I'd smoked my mind the night before
With cigarettes and the songs I'd been pickin'
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Playin' with a can that he was kicking
Then I walked across the street
And caught the Sunday smell of someone's fryin' chicken
And it took me back to somethin'
That I'd lost somewhere, somehow along the way.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk
I'm wishing Lord that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone
And there's nothin' short of dyin'
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of a sleepin' city sidewalk
And Sunday mornin' comin' down

In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughin' little girl who he was swingin'
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
And listened to the songs they were singin'
Then I headed down the street
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringin'
And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday

On a Sunday morning sidewalk
I'm wishing Lord that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone
And there's nothin' short of dyin'
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of a sleepin' city sidewalk
And Sunday mornin' comin' down

This was an exercise in perspective for me. I'm terrible at it, I hate doing it. I hated doing this, but I made myself do it, anyway. It was almost like eating brussel sprouts (which I typically laughed and spewed/spit all over the table when I was a kid because my littlest brother absolutely loved them, and he would look up at me and say, "Sister, please pass the Russel Balls...")haaaahhh but... EWWW YUCK.

It looks so real, just like a black and white picture..... nice poem too did you write it your self?

It's an old country song... My Daddy had the album (back in the days of the album :)... I used to play it on our record player when I was little, and the version I loved was sung by Lynn Anderson. Sometimes he played it on his guitar and I would sing it. I think Johnny Cash sang it, too, but I didn't like him much. It's a pretty song, and I have liked it since I was a very little girl. Thanks. :)

I love when you do these. The shadows in this are what impresses me most...just amazing.

This was one of my mothers favorite songs to play when I was growing up, as she struggled herself. This is exactly the type of scene I picture whenever I listen to it. Great tribute, DBA, I'm really enjoying this one.

I dunno why (well aside from the fact that your art always rocks) but I really like this one.

Beautiful atmosphere, it is kind of nostalgic. The shadows and highlights are so impressive...
