Lookin' great, axil! :D Can't wait to see it finished!
DejasView (Aug 16, 2004)
I think a more accurate title would be The pResident. His features should actually be a little more simian. And at this stage, it also looks a little like Chevy Chase. Even so, I have no doubt that this will look fantastic when it's done.
mangaflip (Aug 17, 2004)
good (but he no merite to be drew

great drawing... but DAMN BUSH!!! AAACK!!! MUST KILLLLLL!!! XD pardon me strange reaction... isnt his hair white grey? ohhh... his hair is reflecting the background light... I get it..
misterjimsan (Aug 17, 2004)
looks good, makes me want to go look at political caricatures, like john kerry's uncanny resemblance to Herman Munster...ah, yeah....
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Aug 17, 2004)
hmmm.... hey, bump, threatening the president's life is a serious federal offense... they could come and getcha right now...

What Constitutes a "Threat?"

According to this law -- 18 USC Sec. 871 -- which reads, in part:

"...Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

That covers a lot of deeds and statements. It gives the Secret Service a lot of latitude when conducting an investigation. There is a very good reason for this. Few jobs are more dangerous than President of the United States.

marcello (Aug 17, 2004)
death would be too kind to him, anyway. ;-)
Axil62 (Aug 17, 2004)
I'm just doing a portrait, incriminate yourselves all you like.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Aug 17, 2004)
and a very nice portrait, at that. :)
davincipoppalag (Aug 17, 2004)
It's a nice drawing but I don't see the likeness much
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Aug 17, 2004)
I think it looks an awful lot like him.
brainspiller83 (Aug 17, 2004)
i agree with marcello on the whole bush live or die topic....the picture itself looks really good, looks more like bush than my attempt. I like the flamey coloured background and how you've done a comic book style inking effect to it.
Axil62 (Aug 17, 2004)

I've still got a lot to do on it.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Aug 17, 2004)
I like it even better now. I'm voting for him again. I don't have a problem with a cowboy putting on his boots and kicking ass when it's warranted. A little game of cowboys and indians is good for the world. (and don't anyone bother trying to make that into a racist statement, my great, great grandmother was full blooded native American.) I am an indian.... and a cowboy(girl) so there.

Obviously, some people have over-looked the rule of "text-abuse", which says..quote.."Anything unnecessary that disturbs the normal peace of the site should be considered abuse". If I were Axil, the 'unnecessary' comments made here about the President would disturb my peace..VERY much! Aren't comments suppose to be "insightful" and used to "critique" the work of the artist , for the purpose of improving his/her work? Hmm? Maybe it's time for some people to practice what they preach and set an example for the rest of us. BTW Axil..I think your picture is really good and the likeness is very close. I look forward to your finish..:)
staci (Aug 17, 2004)
it does look like chevy chase..and my dad looks like a bald chevy chase. so im gonna close this pic now..
Axil62 (Aug 17, 2004)
You, me and the majority of the country are voting for him. Last night on Letterman some actor was on and Letterman asked him about the election, he sort of stammered around at first and then said proudly "Well, put it this way, I'm voting for Kerry." About 8 people gave a small smattering of applause and the guy was more than a little surprised. Doh! How do they do it? How do they continue to successfully bullshit themselves into believing Kerry is going to win? Oh the power of denial. lol

I don't think a small amount of healthy political debating disturbs the normal peace of the site. It would get awfully boring if we all just continued to go around saying this is pretty and that is pretty or this sucks and that sucks. I always practice what I preach. I love it when there's a little contrtoversy on one of my pictures. I happen to think Chevy Chase and Bush kind of resemble each other... they both have the same shape head and their noses are similar, and both of them have close-set eyes. So it's not surprising alot of ppl think this looks like Chase. Bush will be President again...and I don't worry about any of it because Texas will always be my country.

Oh, and some of the most famous art in the world is art that stirred up alot of controversy. It goes along with good art.
bumpinthenight (Aug 17, 2004)
Awww come on people!!! Cripes!!! Everything that I wrote is just a bunch of characters on the net!! No need to quote passages from american law, tell me about your political preferences, or even tell me that I'm disturbing the site peace!! fufufu... I dont like bush... That does not necessarily mean I would take his life for the many injustices and crimes he is responsable for! Seriously... Take a chill pill or two...
btw... I'm a dual citizen with canada and the United states.... XD
misterjimsan (edited Aug 17, 2004)
I agree with DBA, it isn't disturbing the peace unless we all start calling eachother names and things of that sort. And I just think it's nice to know people still care about the direction this country is taking in a time when we get something like only 50 percent voter turnout among elligible voters, though that percentage will probably be up this year. I, however, think it will be a very close election and that both campaigns are taking the competition very seriously...except my man, Nader....poor guy. Don't worry, I'm not a hippie. I take showers...
By the way, I like how the portrait is coming along and it is unmistakably Bush. Never realized the Chase/Bush resemblance before though.

DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Aug 17, 2004)
Bump, maybe you should read the law again.... and again... until you understand what it says. Characters on the net would be inclusive where it says 'knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President,...' Of course I don't believe you were serious, but that isn't really the point, and I am becoming bored with this... so... going to find an intelligible debate elsewhere. Hey, Chevy George Chase Bush is looking great, Axil. lol... Hey, bump... those secret service guys really do always wear sunglasses and black suits and cruise around in unmarked government cars with really tinted windows... they are almost there! lol... :)
bumpinthenight (Aug 17, 2004)
axil, this is looking great!!! keep up the good work... and dba, good thinking... let this "debate" (effin hell, I cant even say what I really think here without being blown out of the water... this happened with one of my prior accounts... crappppp) die...
DejasView (Aug 17, 2004)
Dan, I begin to understand now why we don't ever talk anymore. It's just as well. I had no idea we were so very far apart in our political views. This realization makes me sick to my stomach but, I respect your right to your opinion. As I said, before I'm sure your rendition of this supreme court appointed war monger will be brilliant.
Axil62 (edited Aug 18, 2004)
I'm convinced that you have no idea what the consequences would be if we pulled out of this war. They've been pushing us since 1972 but no one wants to look at that. They don't want us to be quiet and go home. They don't want us to leave each other alone. They want us (the infidels) dead. Not under control, not out of sight....dead, all of us. It's what they believe is right. Spain has already folded. They are lost. France is next. Do you understand what's going on here? The consequences are as grave as they were in WWII. This is major, this is for real. We need this "supreme court appointed war monger" more than ever right now. I'm not surprised that you feel the way you do, you avoid anything unpleasant at all cost, you always have. That is the last thing we need right now. You and all your liberal buddies go hide in the corner while we take care of the dirty work so that you can continue to have the luxury of mocking and trashing whatever you want, whatever you and your buddies think is "in" or "cool" to trash. I love you, all the more reason to feel passionate, to take care of this. We are not safe, this isn't a passing little tangle that Bush or any other president caused. They hate us and they want is eliminated, thay will not stand for democracy, freedom, womens rghts...none of it.
This isn't a bad dream, a game, a rally or some demonstration. Please wake up, but if you won't, I'm your brother and I love you no matter. This is bring on watery eyes, you know how much I hate that so I'm stopping now.

Ready to go, willin to stay and pay, so my sweet love can dance another free day. In history we painted pictures grim, the devil knows we might feel that way again. I don't want to be mean or rude...or anything, but this image is what bush would look like if he were Korean...BUT this is a very good picture..nicely done ^_^
Axil62 (Aug 18, 2004)
davin - She'll only hug me if I convert.

Sal - Ok but only if you be the grocery store guy and say things like "Boy those apples are expensive this week." or "Got these on sale, 4 for a dollar." or "Damn, I don't have enough cash, ok well put the holloween costumes and the gallon jar of mayo back."

Korean? Oh huh.
sal (Aug 18, 2004)
"got these on sale, 4 for a quid"
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Aug 18, 2004)
I'll hug you. You're right about most people not understanding what we're into here. I still think we should have made toast out of them long ago and let God sort them out. Limes are usually cheaper than lemons, but not always.

This is perfect.
Anna (Aug 18, 2004)
Looks like Bush to me. Great job.
Axil62 (Aug 18, 2004)
sal - Those are the wrong ones, mom's gonna be pissed.

gloworm043 (Aug 18, 2004)
Axil..all I can say is..BUL-YAH!!! I think that's the expression used, when one agrees with another. And I think your picture is very good...it looks like Bush.
Ty854 (Aug 18, 2004)
He actually looks like he's thinking. Wait... no, cant be. Must be the lighting effect that makes it look that way.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Aug 18, 2004)
It's Dan's talent that made it look that way.
Justin_Sane (edited Aug 18, 2004)
it looks kinda more Bonsai than Bush lol .......When i look at this it makes me laugh ..good job....i like your work!

Nice finish on this, Dan. It's interesting that you would show half his facial features in a dark shadowy way. I especially like the background. Reminds me of how one might illustrate hell with all the red and orange highlights. I think you also captured his usual smirk, not quite a smile. I love you, too.
Axil62 (Aug 19, 2004)
Thank you. ((((dejasview)))) Hey, I'm starting to think you don't like Bush.
marcello (Aug 19, 2004)
From a certain angle it looks like he's jabbing his index finger through the bottom of his jaw. ;-)
Axil62 (Aug 19, 2004)
Actually, he just bit half his finger off and said "See that? Huh? Ya see that? Now that's love." he he

thug (Aug 19, 2004)
is that a quote from Apocolipse Now?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Aug 19, 2004)
One of my brothers busted his chin open when we were little and he actually did stick his finger through it. It was gross.
Axil62 (Aug 19, 2004)
No, I thought of that movie where the guy is at a resturaunt with his girfriend and he want's to prove how much he loves her so he grabs his finger and breaks it and say's that. I dunno the name of the movie, I never watched it all.
thug (Aug 19, 2004)
I was thinking lf when the native children who had their arms amputated by their parents after being inoculated by missionaries in that movie. I couldn't remember the line about that.
