Oh, right. Sorry I had to post this in advanced.
safescene (Feb 1, 2004)
nice. I love her face the most, I think, and the color of the coat(?). The bunch next to her hand seems a little off to me, though. Otherwise, fantastic job :)
Porcelain (Feb 1, 2004)
I agree with Safescene -- but it turned out nicely. It almost looks oil-pastelish. Heheh.

A few things you could improve:
1) The folds of the clothing (Use this: http://www.howtodrawmanga.com/tutorial/tutorial.html for help)
2) The structure of the hand -- the area of the thumb seems a bit too thick.
3) The shading on the face. Her chin seems a bit too much on the left. Shade it in a bit more down the center and fill it up.
4) The collar is a bit sketchy

If you want help on this, feel free to ask me and I'll add touchups to it in an example. :) Good luck.
Look (Feb 1, 2004)
beautiful dress and background. but i think you can add more shading to the face. and even a green hue on teh face for the reflection of the green dress

^ These peeps left some pretty good comments, so I'll just say "ditto". Good job, I like the piece in general!
Critique (don't heed me if it doesn't sound right): The decoration under the face is a bit sketchy and looks almost like a different style, maybe if it were a bit more transparent? Only one other thing that I think needs work is to put shadows under the hair on the face so that it doesn't seem as if she's wearing a wig.

ty all very much. i have to admit that i got bored with it while doing the gown/cape deal. but i love constructive critism and if i had more space on this pic i would probably take all the advice and apply as needed. but there's always the next pic : D

Extra space granted.
Gigandas (Feb 1, 2004)
Do you mean like roots rather than shadow....^^;??What separates real hair from a wig isn't exactly the shadow, but the roots in which it's connected to the head.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 1, 2004)
I love the way she looks like a porcelain doll, and I think the way you did the hair adds to that charm. I really like the emerald green color of her cape and although you should prolly follow the above advice (it sounds good) I truly like it the way it is. :)

I can't believe I missed this one. I am impressed with your piece and cannot believe how many art experts are using this site to give advice. I'm not an expert, guess that's why I have no criticism, Ilike it as is. Even the very best and most expensive Persion rugs have a slight flaw purposely woven in.

Still sucks but i like her face better. woohoo.
pulkidamnesiac (Feb 3, 2004)
now she looks much more evilish >:)
DinoFlorist (edited Feb 6, 2004)
Yes, much more evil, but also the trees make it cooler for some reason. Evil trees= rad. '____'

Oh also! What's fun to do is to click the thumbnail of the previous version and then click the thumbnail of the evil one and it looks like she's turning evil right in front of yuor face!! Haw haw! How great.

I was just browsing around, and I saw this. I LOVE the dress gown thingy, the folds are spectacular! I still struggle with folds. Folds for me are about as hard as getting the hands and feet right, possibly more so.

By any chance is this piece inspired by the image of The Glaistig in Brian Froud and Alan Lee's book "Faeries?" I own the book, that Is one of my favourite pictures in it. Also also, you wouldnt happen to be a fan of the movie The Labyrinth, would you? *loves Labyrinth, loves mythological creatures, art of mythological creatures, etc.)

Anywho, I like this take on the Glaistig, she looks like she's contemplating taking a feed on some poor unsuspecting fool entranced by her lovely appearance. lol.

Wow, shes so pretty, I love the robe, and the trees. I like her expression and her features too n_n
metalhead8363 (Aug 13, 2004)
