Artiste (Jul 28, 2011)
I have not drawn or painted (except for a few sketches here and there or the last couple paintings I have done here). I have experienced a certain amount of guilt over this as if Im wasting some kind of talent I was given... I spent my 20's trying to achieve some kind of noteriety in the art world with little to no success aside from the rare compliment from a few people who know what art is. I dont think about art daily or even have much interest in creating any art, thought I always know I can pick up where I left off when I gave it up a few years ago (for the most part). I wonder how many people are out there like me... it feels like a burden to me now to pick up a paint brush. The energy that goes into painting feels like too much work. I wish I had the passion to go with my supposed talent. I envy people I see here who are driven to draw daily.

I think you're thinking yourself out of it. Knowing what high standards you set for yourself and feeling you may not have the energy or inspiration to produce at that level right now. The world is a depressing place anymore and it's hard to get that thing we get inside that starts as a glow and then grows into the desire..no, need to paint.
