The issue is that it is not proper punctuation at all. The quotes in the manner you use them imply snarkiness or dishonesty... for further reference I direct you to this site.

Hi "Marcello".....well, I checked out the link that you provided.....and I don't understand what that has to do with anything.....it's just a bunch of words with quotation marks......now I'm really confused. When I put quotation marks around a word like "LOL".....that means that I'm laughing out loud.....how is that being dishonest?? I don't know what the word snarkiness means.....I never heard that word before. I use quotation marks to "emphasize" that particular word....to make it sorta "stand out". That's what I learned in English class in school. Anyways....since you own this site, and you don't want me using quotation marks....I'll try really hard to stop. I'll only do this for you....since you're the boss here. I wouldn't do it for anyone else though...."lol"! I think you make a (< b >) to bold and a (< i >) for italics. (no spaces)
