forums2draw.netNewer, Easier, Linux JTablet!

Happy New Year!

I've been working for the past year on getting the Linux port of JTablet up to snuff. I've not had much in the way of bug reports recently, so I've started work on the more mundane (but arguably just as important) work of making installation easier. There are now two options for those who do not wish--or are not able--to compile: a DEB package for installing on Debian/Ubuntu systems, and a generic binary installer (unfortunately it does not dependency checking of its own as of yet). DEBs make the process of getting my build installed on a Debian/Ubuntu box trivial, and can be used by those who have been too scared of the compilation process that has been required until now. The binary installer will require a little bit of manual investigation to make sure you have the required packages, but is otherwise compilation-free :)

Details of development are available at http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=532663

That's awesome jigpu! I'd be curious to know how many people on 2draw use linux. Do you mind if I add that link to the jtablet webpage?

Sorry 'bout the delay in replying! I wanted to wait a little while to make sure nobody reported any bugs, but then totally forgot about this thread *DOH* I would be honored if you put a link up to it :)

I'm unsure how many people are using it, though based off of the number of downloads & number of posters, I'd guess the number of people is between one and two dozen.

Next up on my list is working on the Windows build process. I'm sure I've broken the Windows build amidst all my construction, and obviously need to get that back into shape before everything can be unified. If you're interested in working it too, go right ahead :) I'm having some trouble with my SVN repository at the moment, but I can always merge code into the tree later.
